An absolute howler of a draft selection taking such as small and un athletic player whose only elite trait was endurance.

The howler was not trading up, especially in a rare strong SA draft and then watching port do it with an inferior hand, as the defacto state team reid deserved sacking for that alone, he should have been all over it

The pick it self was a late first round in a shitty draft, which you love to tell everyone are usually busts, so hardly a howler in that sense, although it was perplexing that ned seemed to display 0 afl qualities, usually you can spot at least one lol

Yeah - I dont value picks after 15 as highly as many on here.

Unlike many on here - I am not upset with the Galluci selection - it was the right choice for a team that was entering the premiership window to select a player with genuine pace (something we didnt have a lot of in our midfield in 2017).

The reason Ned was such a howler is that we reached in the draft to select an unimpressive physical specimen with no elite traits apart from his endurance.

Good luck to him but was lucky to get five years and play as many games as he did. Often rucks and key position players get longer so he did well to maintain his list spot.

I never once thought he was a AFL standard player.

It was more "dog chasing car" for me. Always looked good chasing and pressuring but then if he actually got the ball he had no idea what to do with it.

Out of 70 games I remember Ned being thrown on ball at Kardinia park and having an impact, looking like a player, getting his hands on the ball, good in traffic. Thought “hello something to work with”. Unfortunately didn’t get too many opportunities in the midfield to back that up. Used less frequently probably due to turnovers/clangers. Hope his fishing show continues.

I didn't mind him, definitely prefer him over Murphy, but neither are any good at all playing ahead of the ball.
