I am sure a fair few of you have already heard about this, but Nedd Brockman is currently in the process of attempting to break the 1000 mile world record, which is 10 days and 10 hours. He should hit the halfway mark today (day 5), so is still on track despite a few injury issues.

Nedd famously ran across Australia from Perth to Bondi a couple of years ago to raise money for We Are Mobilise, a charity helping homeless people, raising $2M. He's aiming to raise $10M for this new running feat.

All the details are here: https://neddbrockmann.com/

You can follow the run on a TikTok live stream, or his updates on Instagram.

Ah yes. homelessness when there's a housing crisis. what are they going to do with the money, let them sharehouse with some international students?

This dude just loves attention and uses charity as a way to give it some sort of authentication.

It's like the attention seeking chick at school who'd shave her head for charity. three months later and starving herself for Africa is the next dedication, totes meaningful passion.

And that attention seeking chick at school is still a far better human than you.

Christ you really can't please everyone in this world. Get a grip mate

Youre right, better that due to the housing crisis we just say **** the homeless let em die on the streets.

The kicker here is this sentence.

Stark said extreme endurance runs, ice baths, paleo diets, biohacking

3 of those things are shown to have very noted and specific mental and physical health benefits (especially over sedentary lifestyle habits).

So basically, being healthy is toxically masculine... Cool.

I shudder to think at the state of his toenails (and let’s not mention the nipples). The mental and physical fortitude required to even think about undertaking such a thing is both awe inspiring, and bone crushingly exhausting.

yep. Better doing nothing and say screw them charities.

I think it's better if everyone just wasn't born either poor or disadvantaged, that would solve the problem. 🙄

Though this forum is full of two home owners, the reality is most people have a lot of the symptoms poor people used to – renters, living from paycheque to paycheque, big debt.

I just don't really think the average Australian is in the position these days to have much empathy for anyone else, in a ****ed up way. we're all struggling. I'm a dyed in the wool socialist and think yknow, welfare is pretty good. but some bloke who is probably a millionaire now is showing how tone deaf he is by asking for donations. a $10 contribution can't even buy you everything for a garden salad from any supermarket.

We're not really in the charity frame of mind.

Luckily not everyone in this country of 27 million people has the same "**** you, I got mine" attitude as you.

There's people that can't afford to donate that don't. There's people who can't afford to donate who still do. There's people that can afford to donate who don't. There's people who can afford to donate who do.

The beauty of a society is that there are so many people in different situations. No one is forcing you to donate money, and no one is calling you selfish or a dickhead for not. But criticising someone for attempting to raise millions of dollars for a valiant cause and calling them "attention seeking" is wild to me.

$10 might not get much but $2.6mil can
They have about 10 employees and once you include super, most not for profit jobs like that are 80 grand. and that's just the people in low to mid roles. chuck in a CEO and some seniority and let's say the average if 100k.

So that's a million bucks there.

Nice looking website, heaps of advertising, run a lot of events...

Probably just operational costs for the year. who else is massively donating to them?

They're not making much impact. most charities don't.

Nedd just likes looking as some tough bloke because it massively inflates his profile. the bloke does speaking engagements. those things cost an absolute bomb. people with a three sentence wikipedia charge 10 grand for an hour. that dude's making at least $30,000 for his stories about running around in circles for ages.

He's doing this mostly for his own paypacket and the total social impact is absolutely tiny. ffs again, a homeless charity? when a house in a shitkicker satelitte town is a million bucks? what are we going to do? he should be running to stop the Woolworths-Coles monopoly.

He's just some ****wit loudmouth chippy from the bucket bong capital of the world, dimeadozen prick but unlike most of them his ego's been channelled into this and not rooting chicks he sees down the pub from high school.

A homeless charity might provide food, education, clothing/bedding. It isn't buying people a house

He probably is doing it for profit but he's still doing a good thing. Much moreso than you clearly have with your projections (confessions) posted

Point taken, let’s all just do nothing to help anyone else since it’s all so ****ing meaningless.
Australians get angry at protestors because 'it took me an extra hour to get home from work today!'

We don't give two ****s. this country never has. there's a reason there's a pub opposite the Trades Hall.
