The club wont say anything untill we are about to break ground on a new site and it is finalised.

THIS !!!

The club has learnt it's lesson when it comes to this sort of stuff, if something is to happen we won't hear a peep about it until every T has been crossed and every I dotted.

In that case why don't we move to the Simpson desert? Have all the space we need and its dirt cheap!

Seriously, a city base (depending on what the development actually includes) would be a sensational strategic move that would allow the club to grow and become a powerhouse off the field which would allow it to invest into becoming one on the field.

While the Aquatic Centre is not the greatest located in the CBD, it is as good as you can realistically get that is a walking distance from the Adelaide Oval. Ideally, you would want the area by the river on War Memorial Drive where all the Adelaide Uni sport fields are located but that is extremely unlikely to happen.

The Aquatic Centre site could be excellent but that depends on what the plans are. If its only a training facility with AFC offices then, its good but its not a home run. However, if you turn it into more than that where it can generate the revenue even in off-peak periods then you truly have a great opportunity to great things for the club itself and supporters.

It seems to be a constant thing it Adelaide where you have a group of people constantly complaining about EVERYTHING that is proposed. Anything that will require building, or improving Adelaide as a city gets the loud group complaining about. Anyone remember how the same group complained when there was a talk of the inner city stadium? That even intensified when the choice was to redevelop Adelaide Oval and not build a new stadium. Guess what?! Redevelopment of the Adelaide has been the best thing for Adelaide in the last 50 years.
It has to incorporate a club for the fans, if it doesn’t it’s a wasted opportunity and it basically sends a very poor message to the supporters that they are irrelevant.

As for a walking distance to the ground, I often go for a drink at the Wellington Hotel before the game and they have mini bus shuttle service before and after the game. The club could easily do something similar but on a grander scale.

If they put the tram along Prospect Road, there would almost be a stop right alongside it.

Is the North Adelaide tram line still an option?

ie if the tram line last stop is the corner of O'Connell and Barton your walk is less than 5 minutes

Monorail from Adelaide Oval to the Aquatic Centre..

We'd need govt funding for sure. No way we'd do it ourselves. Probably why Chapman will publicly state it's nonsense. They wouldn't make a public statement until they're close to some type of deal.

Especially with the North Adelaide Residents waiting to pounce. It’ll all be done behind closed doors and laughed away as being impossible right up until we announce that something truly unexpected changed making it possible.

Their cheerleader Anne Moran was quite nonplussed about it.... there's already been a lot of work done obviously or she would be all over it.

I heard her this morning and was surprised how balanced she was.

I guess the want to offload the Aquatic Centre for the council is greater than protecting a couple of trees lol

Its a good facility, not a great one. Plenty of clubs have gone past us now but we were ahead of the game.

The one thing I am perhaps overthinking is why do we need a city base ?? Plenty of good clubs train and are based a reasonable distance from their home grounds.

You don’t knock it back just because not everyone else is doing it.

For sure, but what I was trying to ascertain is whether it would be a big enough upgrade to justify the cost.

Happy for it to happen if it ticks all the boxes.

She’s all for it if it gets the Aquatic Centre off their hands and has facilities for the NA residents to use. They get everything they want in that scenario and it’ll be the only one that gets us the land. Any other options in the city will be a no-go.

It's needs to be available for the public to be viable, so if that's what it takes that's fine.

They won't use it anyway.
