Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

I'm getting sick of everyone asking when it's going to be released or repeating questions constantly when they're not getting an answer despite being told that some things will not be revealed.

I'm really looking forward to the creation aspect of the game though. Could make my own state of origin series.

Agreed, and also with the SoO idea, fantastic one, jizz.

Why the f would you want a draft when you find players like "lance leunbergeer" or "angus ebert"

Spot on, easier to mix things up yourself with current players.

Will most people try and create there own side, it sounds like a good idea but in the end I don't know if i would be bothered creating 40 odd new players, more likely make my own self as the new Richo! CHF for the tiggies, and make my mates the new Jarrod Oakley Nicholls :p

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

game wont be released this year. They will announce it at minimum 3 months before its due to be released. And the footy season is over in 3 months, it will defs come out next year.

If someone from BF is going to go to BAS to test the game in august and they have been working on it for clsoe to 2 years why would it be released next year, it would be immediatley out of date and wouldnt correspond to the 2011 season.

do you think big ant studios is going to come out and say we are releasing the game in two weeks?

They need months and months to market the game, i could possibly see it coming out Christmas time but that would be the earliest. The smartest move would be to release it march next year.

They could be testing an early build.

You seem to not understand the fact that they can in fact change the playing lists before they ship the game.

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Anyway, this game should be awesome as.
I'm going to make a Power-House 'Richmond.' It should be really good.
Then, take on Geelong and hopefully my power house teams thrashes Geelong.
Creating your own team's seems good as well.

Yeah i'm still positive that it will be released this year :thumbsu:

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Ross, are the free kicks realistic? I hate playing AFL 2007, setting the umpiring to Lenient and getting pinged for HTB nine out of ten times.

And thanks for all the info so far, you're a legend mate :D

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

The trade week practically begins in two months
Then the national draft begins in about 3 and a half months.
They will have to make alot of changes on the roster, i cant see the game being released before these events.

Unless it is released on Grand Final Week and there is a DLC to update the lists which is a chance

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

The news about having no draft is a little disappointing.

It's one of the things that makes the Franchise Mode in American sports games fun: starting with a young group, drafting/trading for gun rookies/young players, and building your team up over a few seasons to hopefully take them to the top of the ladder. Also means you actually get to improve your team at the end of the year if you're struggling. I know you can edit the team lists manually but it really isn't the same.

Anyway, I'll still be buying this game as soon as it's released. Just hoping drafting and team management is added in the next installment, makes Season Mode that little bit more realistic/fun.

I can, as stated before, Ross has said that every player from every team has been photographed and modeled onto the game, now that is complete yeah, and they are just tweaking the game and will continue to tweak until they are told to stop.

Put two and two together, the game is based on this years lists, as he even said that new draftee's have to be lisenced before they can be on the game, so that would mean if the game comes out in 2011, they then have to go ahead and model every single player that has been drafted again, and also change any physcial appearance, of any existing player, tatoos etc, it just means that a lot of work they have already put into the game now will be a waste because would have to change it again.

If the game comes out during finals it means that rosters are current, over the off season after the trades/drafts have been done, they then maybe perhaps be able to photograph/model the new draftee's and release a patch, with potentially the gold coast in it. It makes sense as well that ross has said , you can control up to 18 teams in a season mode, the 16 current sides, but 2 spots left that can be your created sides or think about it, the DLC Gold Coast/GWS sides. Just read things he say's it can be taken in a way that the game will be out soon.

Here's a clue, the comment he made saying that you can retire players, move them from club to club, and create new players to simulate the "real world" off season , why would that even be a factor if the game was no released this year, because another comment he has made has said that by the time GWS come into the AFL we should already be talking about Game 2

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

I don't know what to think anymore about the release date

Just don't worry about it, it will come eventually, reading between the lines, and if you take into account their website saying 2010, then believe it will be 2010. Unless they advertise otherwise or Ross tells us so, then think of it coming in 2010, but just be patient!!!

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Wow! That was a lot of catch up reading to do (with the exception of the bickering part)

Anyways to get back on topic one of the things I'm really curious about is the actual presentation of the game. In the last few AFL games I could never play the 1st person camera angle, I always had to have it in the Side angle, just wondering if Big Ant is going to add more angles to help brush this up.

Also, hopefully the goalkicking system has improved, as in 2006 and 2007 it was hard to line up the "ball in the post" meter whilst on the run. Cant wait for this game though it looks so promising!

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Who will tell them to stop?????

If you have followed anything he has posted or listened to it, he said the other day that the game is "complete" but they are tweaking the game, and will continue to tweak and improve anything they can until they are told to stop , which would be the publisher telling them to have it ready to be shipped etc.

If you guy's read Ross's posts , and listened to information he has said about release dates, features of the game, what they can and can't say then you might stop asking stupid questions etc like the last few pages have been

I can remember Ross saying that Camera Angles are the hardest part, of making the game. He said he likes playing it as- (Sitting on the front row, on level 2.)

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

To be honest i think everyone has a fair idea it will be released soon, I dont feel there is that much to talk about.

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Well then, I can see that the Cats will have about 5-10 players with 90 + overall and smashing the rest of the league
