Ross not posting for almost a week now has me thinking that there is going to be some biggish news (press release, advertising etc.) in the next few days, but we'll see.

I hope I'm right..

Also for those who want to know some random but still relevant news. BigAnt are using the PhyreEngine for this title (as far as I know anyway, pretty sure it's much the same between RLL and AFL 2010/2011). This is actually something I wondered if they'd use back when it was announced that BigAnt got the rights to use the engine back in early 2009.

The engine has been used in games such as Demon's Souls, Flower, Shatter, Burn Zombie Burn among other titles.

I dunno if it's 100% sure that they'll be using the PhyreEngine for the AFL title, but they are definitely using it in Rugby League Live.

It's a pretty sweet engine when used right with support for some good physics and also a foliage renderer (possible grass effects!).

My uncles', cousins', friends', fathers', love child who works on the game said that the game will be released on the PS3, 360, PC, Wii, and Atari 2600 either December 2010, March 2011 or December 21st 2012.

On a serious note didn't Ross mention that there were 17 teams? So this would suggest a 2011 release wouldn't it?

Apparently the GC roster won't be announced until November (according to an article I read in the Herald Sun a while back). Christmas this year is a possibility but not very smart timing imo.

Hi Guys I'm God...

frey Jones

The game will not becoming out on PS3 or Xbox 360 and instead will be on the Nokia N-Gage.

It will not be released in stores, instead during the month of November it will be the free toy given away with every Happy Meal at McDonalds.

The game won't feature any interstate sides, but will feature South Melbourne, Fitzroy and University.

Kind of on topic, but quite a few people have got their hands on Rugby League Live and general feedback has been positive. The Game is far from perfect from what I have read but the gameplay is enjoyable and online play is lag free for the most part!

What does this mean for the AFL game? Well assuming similar network coding is applied we could be in for a solid online mode which wont suffer from slowdown. Also means that Big Ant have proven they can make a sports title ;) There are a few gameplay vids on youtube that give you an idea on the gameplay (not the graphics as the video quality isn't great) but it's a good sign that they have tried to get the game mechanics right and make it flow.

looks like a cricket game as well over summer - this indicates to me that this game will be a late feb/early march release, just as preseason gets underway

Hopefully big ant dont get overly carried away with cricket and rugby and forget about the game we are all waiting for, Ive been reading this since part 2 and i am so desperate to get my hands on it whenever it comes out.

AFL is our #1 concern now that RLL has shipped...

The RLL is reasonably "lag free" online - the AFL game is the same.

glad to hear it. but with all due respect (and this is only my opinion), i felt a company/publisher update on the AFL would have been perfect around this time (which im sure is not too far away anyway). logistically it is confusing (once again my opinion) as to why another sporting franchise was announced before we had any form of press release on the AFL game.

Well said.

Sadly I think at this rate, cricket will be released before AFL, and that would just be a giant kick in the nuts, actions speak louder than words is all I will say. anyway, GO PIES!!!, hopefully they will win the grand final this year, I can feel it :D
