Interesting take - I agree on Moose but have Brayshaw and Serong reverse to you.

I would be happy with either but prefer Brayshaw. Good spot to be in though.

They both have leadership in spades! Ambition\drive to match.

Andy is polite and wholesome! Great with the speeches and sponsors.
Caleb will smile and then proceed to stick his hand into your chest and rip yer friggin heart out there and then!

Caleb is what u want. He will drag the best out of the team.

Andy has shown a grit in game many times to will us over the line. I think Andy has that dog in him, he just presents it with a smile.

As I said he is my preference but fine with either.

Perhaps, different personalities.
Question is, can u split them without upsetting them or do u need have dual Captains?

Although I'm sure the club would like this when it happens I don't think the voting system we use would allow for it unless they could somehow rig a tie.

I might not know the system well, however, I thought the leadership team was voted on and then the club leadership chose the captain. Is that the case?

No they vote for both and it used to be against a defined process? I seem to recall Ross saying it was a Leading Teams one. I suppose it's possible the club changed the internal rules in the aftermath of Mundy getting elected in 2016 so that next time something happened they didn't like they could just change it.
At the very least they seem to have given themselves the power to add stuff on: The role of 'vice captain' isn't actually in out structure which is why Andy and Serong could be appointed to it (I.E. no vote).

In the lead up to announcing the leadership group last time, Bell made reference to "consulting key stakeholders" after the players cast their votes. He also (then or later) said that all three of AP, AB and CS were unanimously chosen, but it was left unstated as to whether that meant for the leadership group generally or if Pearce was unanimously chosen specifically as Captain.

I'd always assumed it was purely player voted, but reading through the lines, it looks like there might be some club oversight/input, paving the way for an executive decision that AB and CS are co-captains, assuming the very likely outcome that both are unanimously voted into the leadership group again.

Alex Pearce will still be skipper of the Dockers in 2024.

Apparently Alex Pearce is ready to step aside after one year of being captain.

The club now believes Serong and Brayshaw are ready to step up. Serong is the leading contender.

A little strange after just 12 months but not the worst thing.
Snuffaluphagus I know I've only been around for a couple of years, but would it be thought presumptuous of me to propose a policy of 1 week bans for anyone who comes in and makes some ITK-like claim about what the club is planning to do without at least vaguely indicating how they know it ("heard it from my mate who washes one of the part-time physio's car"), or specifying the media source ("as announced by Suma in between his grunts and farts on the pilot episode of I'm Hoping to be a Senior Coach; Get Me out of Here, available on YouTube only")?

I can see that being the case because we are a conservative club that is always about tomorrow, not today. "Oh we're too young, we'll be a good team next year but not right now. Caleb's too inexperienced, he can captain the club later. Pearce is fine we'll stick with him."

Club makes a lot of mistakes lbh. Keeping Woodside is not one of them.
Keeping a bloke who is your worst kick in the defensive half as Captain is a mistake.
Unfortunately I agree with How So Suma in today's worst Australian.
We are miles off the clubs at the top end of the ladder

As he should be. He 100% deserves to captain the team in 2024

Absolutely, because we are a weak ass club devoid of leadership and wont make the hard decision to make a change.

Pearce's interim captaincy means that Brayshaw/Serong don't have to bear that burden while they and the team are still developing.

It's a perfectly reasonable decision. It's not like the above two can't be strong leaders because they're not "officially" captain anyway.

Can only hope not and support him is he is.

He is the Tristan thompson of our team.

The opposition love when he gets the ball and our team suffers from it.
If I knew WTF you are talking about I would comment.
But make no mistake, those that those that make the selection are far more veresed in the running of the club than you... oh.. and me.

He plays basketball, is big and the opposition sits a mile off him when he gets the ball. He is basically a net negative when he gets the ball. Pearce is this for us.

Lost me when you said basket ball.
Pearce will be skipper in 2024.

And I hope not. I also thought that wasn't decided until preseason.

He is good (inconsistently this season) at stopping but cannot kick the ball well and struggles with clean handball. If we could have moved passed him in 25 we will be a much better team.

This season has shown that both Andy and Caleb are ready to be Captains they are almost demanding they be chosen. I think these young kids are the ones that show us game after game that they are the ones who will win us the Cup or literally die trying to.
We havent ever had this level of leadership b4, Nat or Pav were leaders to varying degrees but not to this level.

Dual or pick one is the question in my mind. Im leaning towards Caleb (coming from a mug supporter).

Just so we are clear on something here - these people who are “far more versed in the running of the club than you or I”

Do you mean the players?

There’s a widely held belief that the players chose the captain. It’s been spouted ad nauseum in here and elsewhere. IF that’s true, and the players voted for Pearce, I’m ok with that.

However, if other influences in the club (not just the coaches) have an influence and are using that to ensure Pearce is captain, then that would be quite problematic.

Can you confirm which it is based on your posts above?
