Seen enough of Drake Maye to realise he has that special it factor the best QBs have. :whitecheck:

Pity that he has such a shitty OL around him, he looks like a real talent, just hard to see him being kept adequately upright to do his stuff.

Part of me sort of wants them to keep Maye wrapped up this season and Brissett take the heat, until they sort out any semblance of quality to the OL.

I just don't get how the organisation can let its OL have become so vulnerable and ineffective.

X 2.

I was hoping that Vrabel would have got the job.
Mayo is going to be on a very steep learning curve.

Well, that's a pleasant surprise. Defence played as expected, run blocking was competent but, pass protection looks like it's going to be a major problem. Until that's solidified, I'm fine with Jacoby at QB.

Well done Coach Mayo and team. Let's see how the next month unfolds.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

Patriots always seem to be able to put a serviceable D together, but good Lord a serious and urgent O Line is needed, otherwise the QB will be cannon fodder.

Note to Handjob Bob : open up your wallet in free agency next off season and get some pass protection and a decent WR 1 & WR 2.

That said very happy to get our first W for the season . 👍

If the coaching staff has some balls, Maye will be named the starter within a month. Jacoby is too big a handbrake for a team showing it wants to compete.

Gremlins of seasons past crept in today. Blew a winnable game with bad decision-making, on and off the field.

ausbacker i think this is the way the season will trend.
We will get close but not get the chocolates more often than not.

We need to be competitive in all three phases of the game and we are not.

On offensive we have a substandard O line and no wide and deep creditable passing game.

We will be predominantly a run offence and as such with a limited passing game, we will be easy to plot against and shut down.

Until we address our deficiencies in offence we will be glued to mediocrity.

We all knew the short falls in our list at seasons end, yet we did fu(k all about addressing it in free agency.

So as much as I would like to see Maye on the field, I am really worried that he will be smashed about and hammered because we can’t keep him upright.
I don’t want that because because I think he is the real deal that can lead the Team for the next decade, he will be our franchise QB.
So we need to protect that asset.

The season will be a bit of a nothing season IMO, and just how aggressively and effectively we hit free agency next off season will impact both how shyte we are going forward and determine Mayo’s tenure as Head Coach.

I am prepared to give the current coaching set up and player management a fair crack at it but I think Kraft needs stop living in “ The Glory of Yesterday” and spend some of the not insignificant cap space that we currently have.

32 passing yards in the 2nd Half

Which is 32 more than expected with the state of the O-Line
