God I hope the swans and pies don’t give away the opportunity to keep the famous Nike tick on the front of their jumpers. Two power house clubs with the biggest brand of all I wouldn’t of thought so
No chance of that happening, same most likely with Asics at the Bulldogs, the Puma sides (though the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL have already sold the sternum spot, likely due to a contract signed with DTR prior to Puma replacing Canterbury) and Under Amour with Essendon

this is very nice.

This picture, very confused

For home games, they wear the Hostplus sponsorship jumper.
For Away games they wear Sixt sponsorship jumper.
Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton & Freo all have Home & Away sponsors that they use on their Home jumpers.
It's replacing this jumper

Yeah i get it now. Would be nice if they all did something different with their away kits just to make it standout. At the moment them actually having an away kit is pretty superfluous (unless they wear the clash).

I don't mind the logo, but gee they coulda figured out a better placement. Cutting into the stripes is a weird thing to do :(

Not that weird, they had it that way for over 40 years (1953-1996). I like it, it's great to see a club actually wearing their history, even if it's only for a year.

I'm hoping that the Dogs will wear the 1944 navy guernsey at least once in 2024.

I'm not downplaying it, I can see how my post might come off as sarcastic but it isn't. The added sponsor logos look f**ken shithouse and I've lost all interest in collecting modern guernseys. One sponsor badge front and back was a good compromise between design and commercialism, but these added logos make us look like the amatuer-hour NRL.

You'd think a financial powerhouse club like the Eagles might even forgo sullying the guernsey with more logos for the sake of aesthetics but nope - gotta squeeze every last dollar you can, no matter how profitable you are.
In theory I feel the same way, but in practise it's a case by case thing for mine.
Like I don't really mind a small above the numbers sponsor, similarly sized to NBA jersey sponsors, where it's just a little logo... but stuff like St. Kilda's massive RSEA looks like shit - but it's probably a club thing - Saints probably need to offer a massively sized logo to get a decent payday, whereas clubs like Collingwood and WCE can get 'esteem' sponsors.

Then there's the front logo sponsors replacing manufacturer logos - which in theory I'd be very strongly against - but then every so often you get stuff like Brisbane with the maccas logo which I find kinda awesome in a kitsch sort of way.

Yeah i actually don't mind the gold M on our kit, it does fit in with our colours. The away gold cuffs actually reminds me of the Chris Johson-designed SDN round kits from 2021 as well (they also had gold cuffs).

Gotta laugh a bit at people here bemoaning a sponsor logo at the base of the neckline. Probably need to go back 25 years to air those grievances given logos first showed up in that spot in 1997. I don't really think swapping out an apparel sponsor logo for a different sponsor is all that big a deal, especially when its something as simple as the Macca's golden arches. If the apparel sponsor is then moved to shoulder or something, thats when it'll be something to get annoyed about.

The above number sponsor is far more obtrusive yet from my reading on here it feels that its more accepted which is just bizarre to me.

I mean can you really fault sports apparel nerds for being disappointed that manufacturer logos are being dropped in favour of corporate sponsors?
Someone's gotta care about this sort of thing!

I’m specifically bemoaning the loss of the apparel logo. I never saw that as a ‘sponsor’ spot but a place to show who the supplier of the guernsey was. Naive me used to think the logo on the guernsey was who made it but now am learning about outsourcing/Belgravia Sports etc etc so I don’t know what is real anymore.

But back in the day I’m pretty sure a WCE Puma guernsey was made by Puma, and all was right in the world.

How long before we start seeing sponsors across the chest or stomach areas of jumpers like the NRL?

I get that Covid and the associated restrictions did no one any favours in terms of their bottom line. Had this happened in the 1990s, then we would've seen more mergers take place.

But surely in 2022 (heading into 2023) clubs aren't that desperate for $$$.
