Clues.
1. You probably wouldn't have heard of them, unless you are a lovely person.
2.It will all come out soon I imagine. It is a good thing, Port will never go Hungry again.
3. Not a take away joint
4. Bigger than myATM and Soaring securities
5. Will cause mixed emotions with some of our supporters.

As long as we have a good reliable sponsor I'm happy

Those clues make it sound like we are being sponsored by a charity that feeds the homeless.

Though the bank bit seems to rule that one out?

A Charity - Gordon Pickard
Or some organisation that works with the poor/disadvantaged - Gordon Pickard
A bay13 thread about it - Gordon Pickard

Maybe we'll just have his name on our shirt with a love heart and a twinkle in his eye ;)

The Phoenix society :) That would put PhoenixPower very close..

TPS isn't national though... and aren't they a non-profit organisation (hard to see them sponsoring an AFL team if so).

The clues "lovely", "hungry" and "mixed emotions" etc do make it seem like some charity, but hard to imagine a charity sponsoring an AFL club.... unless they really want the exposure. If that's the case maybe someone like AngliCare or The Smith Family.

But then there is the "Bank" clue as well... blood bank... sperm bank (oh no )

You're a prick you know that TSW

EDIT: yes, ^ food bank... Meals on Wheels.

Again, they're a NPO... and rely on their own sponsorships for limited finances:

Taken from their website:
Foodbank is able to operate on limited financial resources, thanks to the goods and services generously donated by dozens of Australian companies including ...

Again... unless they're seeking greater exposure and PAFC aren't looking for much $ sponsorship, but are rather 'doing right' by the community. I think similar was mentioned earlier in the thread.

I take it by the nature if your response that you're a part of the Adelaide Central Market controlling body and have inside information?

As someone who regularly uses the markets and talks to stall holders, they've just come off their slowest Christmas in living memory. The Markets are an Adelaide icon and some national exposure targeting the people coming from interstate to watch their football team play on a Saturday afternoon might just appeal to the people running the place.

Of course not, I just couldn't see them having that advertising budget that's all.

I would have thought the Adelaide Casino would however :) On the same principals you think for the Market it could work really well for the Cazz.

Our brand has been tarnish over the last few years we all know that. If this is correct I like the idea. It's a way to create goodwill to our brand as we drive full steam to A.O when sposnorship dollars can be maximised.

I am sure the club will let us know today or tomorrow the full details of their plan, they are smart they will work it out.

Marketing and communications is, believe it or not, a major part of operations for charitable organisations.

As the old saying goes, you need to spend money to make money. I used to do some work for a medium sized Melbourne based charity, that had an "advertising" (they don't call it ithat) budget of several hundred thousand dollars per year.

remember duncanson saying its a deal "the likes of which no other club in the AFL has"

well i have no idea how a foodbank sponsorship would work financially, but you could bet your bottom dollar that it would fall into line with duncansons comment.....

Sorry I was referring to the Central Market not foodbarn.

You wouldn't think they would have enough money to sponsor an AFL club. Unless Port are that desperate.

I don't think it is a matter of being "desperate", but if we can't find a stable major sponsor then they might as well do something with a "warm fuzzy" feeling amongst society.

Thus gaining branding and publicity mileage out of charitable connection. Hard for the media/public to knock the club for helping sectors of the society, FoodBank get more exposure, FoodBank corporate Partners (check out their page: link) might be impressed and help PAFC in coming years, and so on.

*** all providing that is the announcement.

remember when west torrens put a charity on their guernsey this year some fans thought port should do the same - well, im not against anything like that as long as its not economic suicide. Im sure there are benefits if this was a deal

It would just devalue the worth of the major sponsorship, actually. The value of that is entirely ephemeral, and is a product of limited availability with limited demand, which needs to be handled very carefully - we have a stronger position holding onto its value if we go in with no logo than if we give it away.

In more common parlance, if you publicly `give it away' for free, prospective suitors will think you are a whore and treat/bargain with you accordingly.

The Woodville-West Torrens Football Club has today kicked off a unique community-based partnership with Little Heroes Foundation which will benefit children with cancer and other serious illnesses in South Australia.

During the announcement, the 2011 SANFL Premiers unveiled its senior Guernsey for the 2012 season featuring a Little Heroes Foundation logo in the area traditionally awarded to major sponsors.

In addition to the Little Heroes Foundation branded Guernsey, the Woodville West Torrens Football Club has also agreed to donate part profits of all of its major fundraising and Club events in 2012 and 2013 to Little Heroes Foundation.
