Was always gonna be a tough year! Almost feels like a holding year before we go to shit and need to start a rebuild. So Saints are gunna start the year likely without Lattimore, Onyemata AND Mike Thomas.
We are screwed.
Thomas won't be here next year imo...
Speaking Wednesday, Saints coach Sean Payton said Michael Thomas should have undergone his ankle operation earlier instead of waiting until June.
"I'm going to leave it at that," was the extent of Payton's quote. There had been some loose media questioning about the timing of Thomas' operation, but the press was not in a position to judge. They are not the player or a team official. Payton, on the other hand, would not have made his comments without a full understanding of Thomas' situation. It is unclear if Thomas was simply too optimistic and opted to rehab longer than was reasonable, or if this is a Scottie Pippen situation and he deliberately waited to send a message to the team. Whatever happened, he now seems likely to miss at least the first month of the regular season, and perhaps land on reserve/PUP, which would cost him six games. At least from the outside, Thomas' relationship with the Saints has seemed to rapidly sour over the past few years. Thomas is signed through 2024, but this is the final season he has guaranteed money, and it is a modest $1 million.
Sounds like he has a shitty attitude (I mean his social media attitude is terrible anyway, sounds like off field isn't much better), atleast would net a great trade.
Michael Thomas spent something like multi-millions to open some charity or social club for disadvantaged youth
If I open this damn thread tomorrow and AK has f’ed up in some way, drugs, arrested, COVID, I'm out.
Big chance Saints go 1-5 at best to start the year and there's no coming back from that.
Ugh.
