It'll be disappointing if the Saints lose the Fortius Quo Fidelius ribbon at the bottom.
My Mum works for the club.

They were shown 3 logos that they were considering and all of them didn’t have the Latin motto.
The reasoning behind this is that todays youth don’t know the meaning or reason for it on the logo

That's disappointing.

It made the logo feel complete and lessened the shield focus.

Also, wouldn't it make sense to help or have the young fans know what it stands for? (FWIW I don't but that doesn't mean I want it gone.

What an absolute shame, this world is going down the gurgler.

Those Latin mottos in sport are so beautiful.

'Strength through loyalty,' considering all of St Kilda's lack of success, should be head and front of their branding.

In that case we’re 0/3. That should’ve been a non-negotiable part of the logo.

We live in a very very dumb country. Of course kids don't know. They don't know anything. That's what being a kid is.

I don't mind if we drop the ribbon for a "cleaner" look in most applications, but there's something about our current logo (or even the retro version of it) on our jumper looking so good. Like the way Geelong use their two logos.

I wonder if it means our branding will be very "strength through loyalty" focused without the ribbon.

3 logo so it isn't just the 150 logo copied and pasted? Any actual differences?

Even marketing to kids these days is a dumb idea. gone are the days of 'mum and dad, can I have the new white clash jumper?' and them saying yes. I don't even think kids buy jumpers anymore – they're more inclined to get a box fit oversized hoodie or a fizzy leng scarf.

I'd imagine most of the money is in people who'd rather buy something a bit more expensive with a traditional logo that's had some good photographers and videographers do a nice unveiling.

I'm by no means special and nor are my mates but we and they think of parting with money for that sort of thing. people in their 20s and 30s have the (relatively) disposable income.

Aussie Rules footy is always like ten years behind anyway; very hard to persuade honchos to let it happen.

Recent seasons have proven we don't value loyalty any more.

The real reason they want to refresh it is apparently younger people don't connect with the latin motto, so hopefully they don't replace it with "rizzing in the skibbidi toilet"

Should just be the 150 year logo without the 150 year
I like this. Very clever changing the direction of the text on the Q and O!

My preferences for the new logo, ranked:

1. No ribbon, no motto
2. Ribbon and motto as before
3. Motto in Latin, no ribbon
4. Motto in English, no ribbon
Daylight
5. Stupid empty ribbon, no motto

I'm definitely drifting into "back in my day" territory here, but as if I knew (or cared) what all the Latin mottos on sports teams' crests meant when i started following the AFL. I don't reckon I knew what the white blob on the front of Carlton's guernsey was until I was about eight or nine and someone explained to me what a monogram was.

Once I was old enough, I started asking questions or looking up what the mottos meant and learning about clubs' history and found it all quite interesting. Is there really a good reason to take away that opportunity for kids who are interested?

Do away with curiosity. Leave no fat around the edges!

Saints should keep their motto visible. Ditto Blues. The real shame is the Dogs not using "Cede Nullius" more - it's a pretty badass phrase

I like that Adelaide took up a Latin motto even though they were founded long after that went out of fashion.
