to all new supporters WELCOME to TIGERLAND!!! why barrack for a crap team when you can barrack for the tigeees.

We should welcome all supporters the more supporters the better.

I can understand changing teams as most other teams lack passion and vision and the tiges have plenty of both.

Edited for accuracy. :D

haha fixed

anyways i just gotta say that jump on board everyone the tigeees are the greatest, i called Ali and he confirmed that were the greatest.

Also chopper said barrack for the tigers or hell chop your legs off.

While I won't be leaving the Eagles, my entire family will purchase memberships and support Richmond as our second team, for their compassion, guts and respect.

I am still absolutely disgusted and disappointed with the West Coast organisation. The people who run West Coast are the epitomy of gutlessness.

I hope that Cuz gets 40+ possessions against us in Round 13 and then again in Round 22 as a big '**** you' to a business that shuns people who need help.

WE ARE RICHMOND ARE WE DON'T EXCEPT NEW FANS. You idiots, you are all turning into Cousins now... stuck up tools. OP, join the Blues, we don't mind people seeing the light.

cant believe some people still cant get over the fact we sacked him.

heads in the sand. he was a cancer at our club which wasnt needed for us to move forward.

good luck to him but geez guys, we done the right thing and we all need to move on.

You're right, we don't except new fans...We do accept new fans however, even if some of us have reservations about people who switch clubs.

Congrats to Richmond for having the gumption to draft him, and to Cousins for the opportunity to get back into the AFL. I sincerely hope it works out for both the club and the player.

But as for the OP and anyone else who is prepared to change allegiances on the basis of one player - **** me, you're welcome to them. The further they get from my club the better as far as I'm concerned.

I find it hard to believe you chose to support richmond
before finding out that cousins was infact heading that way
Why did u not jump ship in 2007 when the board sacked cousins
bandwagoner

As a close friend of Mastablingbling, I can categorically state that this decision was made before Richmond recruited cousins. Stating it today was moreso bad timing but given what unfolded this morning probably motivated him to state his case. He was devestated with the lack of compassion from the WCE Board and its handling of cousins.

I too was disgruntled with the way Cousins fiasco was handled. Albeit he made some terrible mistakes, he still gave his heart and soul to the club onfield. He would have died for WCE, but WCE wouldn't die for him, even when they had the opportunity to bring back their favourite son.

I will always support WCE, I love them too much but conveniently Richmond have been my second favourite team, mainly due to man love for Cotchin (Who WILL win a brownlow), Richo and Deledio.

The Richmond Board, players and supporters have earned my respect and I am grateful that I will be able to see Cuz play again. Anyone willing to support cousins will also have my support. As a token of my appreciation, and like many other WCE fans have said before me, I will purchase an interstate Richmond membership.

Howdy folks.

An ex-Eagles fan (and member for the last 8 years) would like to check in to Tigerland. Not an easy decision to make, however, I made the call a while back that if the Eagles would not support their greatest player after all he had given the club, and in light of the inconsistencies regarding his penalty and the sanctions in place, then I would be finding myself a new home.

I'm not jumping ship at the convenience of their low finish this season. West Coast tanked to perfection, has rebuilt itself in 2 drafts, and will be a serious threat in the next 2-3 years. Good on them, but it's not enough to make me want to follow them.

Nor am I selecting Richmond based on the fact that they took Cousins today (no doubt that has made it easier). When it became apparent 2 months ago that West Coast would be passing on the opportunity to re-draft Cousins (in order to appease the sponsors, AFL, and with total disregard for the opinions of the supporters), I started the search for a new club.

The Tigers were a traditional club that I thought would be a good fit (I hate Carlton...re Judd... Essendon were out of the question as they had the better of the Eagles, and Collingwood just don't do it for me). They have a young list (unproven but with upside), have been starved of recent success, and are followed by a strong group of very passionate supporters. I want to see them win a flag.

I'm now going to call myself a Richmond man and can't wait to watch every Tigers game (signed up for Foxtel today). I will be grabbing a membership as soon as possible.

It feels good to be now following a club that is willing to back it's players even if that means taking a risk. The game of AFL will be better off now, thanks to Richmond.

Bring on Round 1  :D

Nice one

What some people dont seem to realise is that Ben Cousins was the heart and soul of our club, especially during the Ken Judge years when we kept finishing bottom 4. The only highlight in those years was watching Cousins give 100% and singlehandedly drag us over the line for 4 or 5 wins in each of those years. Even when we were no chance of making the finals or having any great success, he would bust his gut and run til exhaustion every game. True die hard Eagles fans who attended every home game in those years can vividly remember the rest of the squad putting up pathetic efforts week in, week out - with 1 person doing everything humanly possible to try and win the game.

Some say that the club is bigger than 1 player, but for those 2 years Cousins was the club, and without him we definitely would have won 2 wooden spoons. The West Coast Eagles have Cousins to thank for saving them from that infamous honour, so to see our management buckle to media pressure and kick out our greatest ever player who bled blue and gold was heckin'g disgusting.

For the reason that the Tigers have given Cousins 1 more chance ill buy a Tigers membership and support them as my 2nd team while i remain in Perth, with the intention of continuing my membership when i move to Melbourne in 2010 even if Cousins is no longer with the club.

:thumbsu: to Richmond for having guts on drafting Ben and focusing on on-field success. Hope the risk pays off and Richmond get great value out of his football prowess.

Yeah, like Ben had nothing to do with that!?!?!
The guy is a legend, but his end with our club was a result of his own actions, no one elses.

You summed it perfectly mate. The baggers out there will never understand what Cousins gave to our club and how true West Coast Supporters felt about Ben. He's one special cookie.

Also, Judd might have been captain in 2006, but it was Cuz who was directing traffic, encouraging, putting his body on the line no matter what - total sacrifice for the team.

I will continue to support West Coast but am mindful that if they ever throw a player in this way again.....I'm out. In the meantime, I can't wait to see footage of Cuz training with the tigers tomorrow!:D:D:D

sorry anti , i dont normally have a go at westcoast supporters.

in every state i have a team that i dont mind as much as the other.
in wa i like w/c more than freo
in sa i like crows more than port
sydney & brisbane in my mind i prefer lions

but today i will make an exeption, you must be a real tool.

he was a cancer & we had to cut him loose.....what a pathetic post

so if your mother, father, sister, brother, son or daughter or best friend
contracted cancer you would '' cut him loose'' will you

if you dont support your players when they need help or at least help them to get back on their feet. what sort of a person are you

people like you would have told adam ramanauskus to get stuffed when you found out he had cancer.

i am wrapped that ben cousins is at richmond & wanted him last year when west coast sacked him before he was de-registered.

but in all honesty, westcoast should of taken him back to show the support that richmond have offered him.

so next time you are speaking (posting) about people dont refer to them as a cancer.

The guy is a legend, but his end with our club was a result of his own actions, no one elses.

I continually fail to understand why people simply cannot grasp this. Ben Cousins was the reason for his leaving the club. The guy simply had no interest in changing his path and had been warned on numerous occasions.

People go on about the lack of compassion - yet it was the board that coughed up when it came time for rehab and it was the board that continually gave him more "time" to get his act together.

In the end it was one time too many.

You fellas are a bit late to the party..... I jumped ship when they forced Rowan Jones to retire.

Ahem......... Flog.

I can sort of see where some of the Eagles' supporters are coming from.

I guess it'd be like if the same situation happened, but it was Richmond who were involved, and rather than Cousins, it was Richo who was kicked out of the club. Many, many Tiger fans (including myself) could say the same thing that Audacious said about Cousins, about Richo. And then some.

Still, supporters should stick to their clubs no matter what, even if the club does something really dumb. And trust me, being a Tiger fan, we've had plenty of that over the years.

If you want to support Richmond, continue buying a membership for your own club, and continue following them, but make the Tigers your second team, and go for them in every match except against your own team. That's what I'd do if I were in the OP's position, anyway.

I know we couldn't take Ben back, I would have been furious if he did! He needs a new environment, away from that scum Kizon and co. Good luck in his Richmond endeavors I say :thumbsu:

I'm not jumping ship, but I guess you can say I'll keep a keen eye on the Tigers, I always like them more then the majority of other teams anyway! :thumbsu:
