Surprised there isn't a thread for this massive series.

The first T20 has just kicked off with the Poms batting first, the ANZ Black Caps looking choice in their new outfits.:thumbsu:

Great to see Ross Taylor back for this series, a shame Jesse Ryder isn't joining him.

Yeah, the black and blue looks pretty sweet.

Avoided all contact with cricket yesterday until I got up at 5am this morning to watch the replay.

The Eden Park redevelopment for the Rugby World Cup has really done a number on the already short straight boundaries. Although the drop-in wicket is of high quality and not an ANZ Stadium-style embarrassment. The fact the third Test match is at Eden Park is a worry though; hopefully they at least leave something in it for the bowlers to combat the boundary sizes for the Test. It hasn't hosted a Test in at least five seasons, but the fact the Barmy Army will be in town convinced NZC staging a Test in a three-quarters-empty 60,000 seat football stadium will be a good idea.

Dernbach goes wicketless and gets some tap once again, and yet the guy gets around like a rockstar with his w***er haircut, covered in tatts and ridiculous open shirt. He's the complete oxygen thief.

If they had opened with Ryder and McCullum they probably would've, they were awesome against England last time they.toured NZ.

I still can't understand how Ryder isn't playing in this series, he's had a great domestic season and is playing IPL yet isn't ready to play against England, wtf? Ryder is box office gold even if he isn't making runs, he's the people's (ie. beer drinking yobbos} champion and gets people through the gate.

NZC have dropped the ball once again, where's the Kiwi Kerry Packer when you need him.

It was Ryders decision. He wants a full year off to combat his alcoholism .(been 8-9 months now). Apparantly he hasnt had a drink since March last year, so doing well, but made the mistake of coming too early last time. So obviously wants to make sure hes fully ready before he commits

love to see him in the side.Been in fantastic form domestically

Don't think New Zealand's intent is quite right here. They're happy to get the boundary in the first couple of balls in the over then just pick off singles for the rest of the over. That is a good plan for most pitches but not here.

And there you go, if Rutherford tried to hit that to the boundary, he would have.

192 is a great score, but some wayward bowling could see it run down with ease. I don't care what Doull says, Ian Butler will get smashed. Great to see Guptill make some runs and get a few out of the middle; that shot in the first over was awesome to see.

Not sure why Trent Boult is playing, surely he should be on ice for Test (and maybe 50-over) cricket. Too good a bowler to risk form/mindset in this stuff. Surely there's enough white-ball bowlers like Mills to fill a T20 side.
