Its already been highlighted that by having 6 rookies you have flexibility to upgrade 2 of any of the 6 players without anyone injured . If you only have 4 rookies and 40 main list none of those 4 rookies can be upgraded until someone injures . Its a smart way to reward the best of 6 players . Its smart mateHow many AFL teams have won a flag with 38 senior listed players.
The so touted flexibility is actually called a lack of depth and potentially putting Tunbridge/ Colledge, Waterman and Newman onto a rookie list isn't the best story to tell.
This is a negative story irrespective of how much spin you put on it.

Yep . Very surprised . I thought he could be better than Barrass .Is anyone else surprised by Powell being delisted? It sounded like he was really starting to improve his performance at reserves and proved to be a valuable member of the league team and he was still around or under 90kgs at 6'5! And then there's Karpany who has averaged like 10 disposals at league level and I think maybe kicked one goal and only broken into the league side fewer times than Powell I believe.
I thought my wife could be better than Jen Hawkins too. Looks like we were both wrong.Yep . Very surprised . I thought he could be better than Barrass .
Was very surprised to hear that Karps had earnt a 2 year extension, don't understand what he's done to deserve more than a year, while Powell has been delisted. Improved a bit after his time off last season, but 2 years?? Probably not that much better than Muzza either, and seemingly only did a bit a bit better than Main. If Maggie and Waterman weren't injured, he'd be well behind them as well. Hope he does justify the 2 year extension though.I share your surprise. I thought Powell was beginning to show his potential at league level and Karpany has shown less than anybody except Main. Some mystifying decision making going on. Perhaps they've kept Karpany because they still want the Sheed deal to work, although Sheed is warranting his selection on his own.
In what way is it negative? The fact they're not good enough? How many AFL teams have won a flag with 38 senior listed players.

He made a valid comment IMO, it is yours that seems more of a rant. Firstly, 1 in 2 cannibis users develop schizophrenia?? That is absolute bullshit. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your rant, ay?Good one Pat. Never mind the fact that the guy he buys drugs from also trafficks them and in the process some kid overdoses and dies which affects his whole family, or that 1 in 2 long term cannabis users develop schizophrenia which leads to further CJS involvement and millions wasted on mental health treating them, and also other stories but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant. Drugs are cool as long as you don't hit someone.
McGinnity played for us a lot more than Newman during the year. You would think it is clear who has more value to us for it to not be a surprise to people. How does mcginnity get a deal and Newman doesn't .....err
Wrong. Your wife IS better than Jen Hawkins. There is no other answer!I thought my wife could be better than Jen Hawkins too. Looks like we were both wrong.![]()
Hey may not do it in an elite fashion, but he does it in a way that at least stands up at AFL level for however long he is on the park..He may be pretty shit, however he's occasionally called on to play a role.
How does one put out their bode, and will it get you arrested?#putyourbodesout
I think I put my bode out moving a ****en couch earlier today. How does one put out their bode, and will it get you arrested?
I put my bode out in last week's rubbish collection. How does one put out their bode, and will it get you arrested?
Oh, you.Total rubbish this morning and you are all aware of it.

Newman punched a guy, that directly impacts the person he hits and could directly lead to his death.
Carlisle buying drugs would in no way directly lead to the death of someone. It would take this random kid to go and buy the drugs and take them for him to die from them. It's not Carlisle that is to blame for this kids bad decisions, which is the whole point of Pat's post. Carlisle not taking drugs would not decrease the availability of drugs. Do you still believe we can "win" the war on drugs?

I don't know if you missed the bit where the "absolute bullshit" part was linked to an article that backed up what I was saying? You call me bogan for calling your statement absolute bullshit, when it is, while calling me names and berating me for bringing the debate down to the assumed level of an idiot and beating you with experience. I'm beating you with actual knowledge and scientific papers, not by using the term absolute bullshit.Well that was actually a 5 star Rant Grennick, seems like you have pulled us all down now and are beating us with experience. And I love the class you show in rebutting a statement by countering with "absolute bullshit". Maybe that is how bogans argue their point, but surely you are better than that. You have found one article that you believe supports your case, in a sea of conflicting evidence, but we do know that those before the CJS often have a history of mental illness and psychosis. To believe otherwise, I may think that perhaps you are Tommy Chong.
Now I think there is evidence to back this up, there is also, I conceded evidence to suggest that cannabis could be used to treat schizophrenia, but before you hit out with your holier than thou sentiment consider that:
"In recent months, new research has explored some of these issues. One study led by Dr. Serge Sevy, an associate professor of psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, looked at 100 patients between the ages of 16 and 40 with schizophrenia, half of whom smoked marijuana. Sevy and colleagues found that among the marijuana users, 75% had begun smoking before the onset of schizophrenia and that their disease appeared about two years earlier than in those who did not use the drug. But when the researchers controlled for other factors known to influence schizophrenia risk, including gender, education and socioeconomic status, the association between disease onset and marijuana disappeared."
Source: Time: A complex link between Marijuana and Schizophrenia. http://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2005559,00.html
Now I acknowledge that the research can be hard to interpret, but I think the above speaks volumes and backs up what I have said.
Can we not accept that any offending is bad form?
Well, I think what a magistrate thinks about it is obvious. If Carlisle was found in possession of a few grams of cocaine he would likely get a suspended sentence or a fine and a spent conviction. Newman got a year in jail. Surely it is obvious that Newman's crime is far worse than Carlisle's in the eyes of a magistrate? I'm not saying Carlisle didn't commit an offence, however his offence was lower on the scale than driving while drunk IMO, let alone assaulting someone. It's more of a health issue than a criminal issue and should (and would) be treated as such.Go and argue this before the Magistrate, let me know when you are, Ill come watch.
I thought my wife could be better than Jen Hawkins too. Looks like we were both wrong.![]()
