Ideally we have games on FTA, but all 8 games live to Foxtel, either through existing Fox Sports network or new AFL channels/package for a cost up to $200 (going on costs for similar products in USA, but hopefully $0).

Would never happen, but having the choice to pay for all 8 games live is the best way forward in television coverage for the AFL.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to give fans the best experience, then you MUST give them the option to pay for superior coverage - in this case paying for 8 live games with no ads during play.

The secondary HD channels are going to open up stacks of possibilities of everyone North of the Murray, it can only be good for everyone.
I'm remote and regional we have no digital and aren't getting it for at least middle of next year,(if we are lucky).
And then we have to buy a satellite set top box for each tv at about $500 odd a pop,to get it off a satellite (and pray it doesn't rain during the footy or we don't see it).

So I'm sticking with ABC for all games if possible. as first option current model as second
and prey that T Box lives upto the dream

I understand what you're saying, I too am in a bad situation with TV reception (but I get Fox).

Anyway, one day, I bit the bullet and decided to replace our second TV, and pretty much everything on offer had built in digital/HD reception, and I was truly surprised at how much better it was - chalk and cheese.

i would like FOXSPORTS to get all the games, than we get them all live and a decent amount of replays, and arent flooded with useless advertising after every goal, and have fox sports active on all the games

Ive got HD TVs but I don't get the signal.

I dont really care as long as some games are on FTA. I think the main focus should be on the internet rights, they need to be taken from telstra whos service is crap. Bring on a system like the NHL in the usa has, you pay a fee like $100 and you can access all games live, all replays and some games you can even choose your own camera angles it is bloody fantastic!

But that's not gonna happen either. And I can't wait for the complaints from those who watch the secondary channels to get away from the RL.

I don't subsribe to foxtel but if you were able to see all 8 games a round live I would consider it. Is their any reason why we don't already have a internet subsription for AFL games? I mean come on it's 2010. I thought the AFL would love a pay model. They should set up something like NBA League Pass or mlb tv. Also what about a pay per view option for blockbuster games on fox. For instance in Melbourne this Saturday you could have the option of paying for the Collingwood and Richmond game. Or have it on delay on 10/one for those who don't subscribe.

Friday Night Football: Nine (8.30pm in Vic, SA, WA; GO! in NSW/Qld) On the priviso Eddie has nothing to do with it.
Friday Night Football: Fox (Live across Australia)

Sunday Afternoon Football (1): Nine early game

im in perth and there is no way any of the FTA networks will change the way they show footy.
they have set it in stone that delay will do.
10 showing before the game after the game is already under way is a joke, they dont do it when a WA team is on so why when other clubs are?

i paid $300 for a reciever that can pick up c7 so i can now get a lot more games live than most in perth can.

but not friday night, even in alice springs its on delay.

so for years now i just dont watch friday footy, its the night i go to the drive ins or out for a meal.

if friday footy was live somehow i would watch it every week.

9 will not show it live or near live in WA either.

it must go to foxtel nation wide

I know there's a couple of threads about this, but I thought I'd start a new one dedicated to peoples' thoughts on the ideal TV rights make up.

Using your post:

Any free to air channel(s)

-Friday night

-Saturday afternoon

-Saturday night

-Sunday afternoon

All games shown LIVE to all states regardless of the teams competing. Non negotiable. When GC and GWS are both in the league then a second game come on free to air sometime Sunday afternoon before or after the other.

Foxtel

-Saturday afternoon (second preference)

-Saturday night (second preference

-Sunday afternoon (second preference)

-Sunday afternoon (third preference - twilight)

Again LIVE.

Good idea on the AFL offering online replays too.

IMO, with 9 games per week.

I would like to see AFL mix it up a bit, try out

OPTION A (When a WA team plays on a Friday night)
2 Friday Night Games (East Coast/West Coast, organise for double header)
2 Saturday Arvo (Same time)
2 Saturday Night (Same time)
3 Sunday Games (early/normal/late)

OPTION B
1 Friday Night
2 Saturday Arvo (Same time)
2 Saturday Night (Same time)
3 Sunday Games (early/normal/late)
1 Monday Night Game

OPTION C (Heritage type round, multiple Saturday games like old days)
1 Friday Night
4 Saturday Arvo
2 Saturday Night
2 Sunday

OPTION D
1 Friday Night
3 Saturday Arvo
2 Saturday Night
3 Sunday

Play on State specific public holiday nights, especially Sunday Nights like in WA (So live into East Coast at 8.30pm)

This couldn't happen ever week though. You can't expect West Coast and Freo to only ever play home games on Friday Night. The Subiaco Council wouldn't stand for it. It would have to mixed with another timeslot like Saturday Twilight. The Friday Night FTA Network get the second Friday game (Doubleheader), while the Saturday FTA Network get the Twilight game (Tripleheader). That way, you have 5 FTA Games per week without one FTA network getting the short end of the straw.
