Jonas needs to step down... And pass the batton to one of the young stars... Who? I don't know... Who ever is showing great leadership. Need new Captain for this almost new era.

Don’t get the massive knock on Jonas.. I can’t imagine playing in our back line when ya getting smashed in the middle and the ball is immediately in our back line or ya midfield burn the ball it comes back the other way with interest on it.

No wonder we get found out as undersized.

The knock on Jonas is that he perfectly embodies the current club ethos of being pompous and full of yourself without ever having actually achieved anything of significance.
I’ve actually never ever thought that and don’t know anybody who does apart from you. lost a yard of pace yes.. pompous and full of ya self never ever.

Seems a down to earth bloke, selfless who plays with a hardness that not many of our back line or team for that matter play with.

For whatever reason, the club doesn’t seem keen to give Wines the captaincy
Probably don't want his captaincy tainted with the stink of Hinkley. They've probably written off this year. Everyone involved is just sitting on their hands waiting for his contract to end to have a second fresh start.

Or he’s not up to it like last time
If our football department endorsed him as VC with him not being capable of being captain, they would be patently incompetent.

You may have a point.

He is a solid player... But past his best now and represents the failures of the last few years.... We need a new Captain and new coach to take us to where we belong.

Jonas I think is hanging onto best 22 by the skin of his teeth and could easily slip out if pasini and co continue to develop.

I’m happy to have him as 3rd defender and captain and if Pansini is good enough to pass him then so be it.. but we need a close checking hard nosed tall.. and he fits the bill.

Jonas has had a good on-field career and I don't agree with people calling him a spud or whatever else, but as a captain he's not only representative of the Hinkley near-enough-is-good-enough era of the last 6 years in particular, but has said multiple things over the journey that indicate that he doesn't have the drive or the burning desire to win a premiership above all else that the best captains have. This naturally rankles a PAFC supporter base which considers premierships to be the only acceptable level of success.

On the flip side I find him to be a fairly courageous player, and the way he conducts himself on field embodies the old port Adelaide aggressive, no backwards steps way.

Yeah he probably has said some things that have rankled the supporter base, and I get why, but he is purely towing the company line. And if only footballers could actually say what they really thought to the media. They’re muzzled and are trained to say all the same garbage.

I think we all agree that actions speak louder than words?

If our list management hadn’t avoided drafting KPD’s with decent picks the last decade Jonas would be lucky to be on the list. He’s been slowing down the last the couple of years, with being woeful last year. Putting that aside, as a Captain he’s the worst we’ve had in the AFL. Cassisi had a team of unfit youngsters, with a fair helping of spuds, but showed more real anger and desire then Jonas ‘live your best life’ ever has.

I have never had an issue with Jonas as captain But now he has come to that time in his career when he isn't a lock for top 22. Therefore he can't remain captain. Needs to go to Wines, end of story

So, I am resigning my self to ...

Koch: What Port needs is stability. I want Hinkley to be a 10 year coach, and Jonas is reappointed as El Capitano.
Meanwhile ...
Hinkley: Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity!

"We a̶r̶e̶ were Port Adelaide"

Who would be everyone’s top 3 preferred captains?

I would stay away from our younger stars like Rozee and butters who should focus purely on becoming top 20 players.

I’d go:
1. Wines
2. Burton
3. Houston maybe?

We are petty limited in options until the next wave come through
