Never seen anything much like Brown on the wing. Perhaps only Peter Matera who had it all was better.
Keith Greig, Robbie Flower and Wayne Schimmelbusch as well.
Brown was a toughnut that outmarked everyone. Tougher than all the last blokes mentioned.
Back in the day Ricky Barham was a cracker.
Bloke by the name Millane is my numero uno winger , had it all , was a beast of a footballer , remember watching training once at Vic Park , and the mercurial one Peter Daicos was mucking around. Pants told him to pull his head in , Peter duly did , 5 months later they were both holding the 90 Premiership Cup aloft together.

To this day, still think he was equal to or a head as the best Pie player ever!

Money for jam. Peter (still the #1 Pies player I’ve ever witnessed in the flesh) got 99 goals in a year playing predominantly in the midfield. Nick only has to get 1 more goal to beat him.

Circle work.
Greening was better and an immortal if allowed to finish his career but yes Peter was sensational.

Superstars although Millane and Greening didn't have long enough careers.
Daicos had it all, Gavin Brown was poetry in motion. Phil Carman and his brain fades. Carman at his peak was the best forward I've ever seen to this day.

What jumps out for me is that Bucks made the team in 1997, years before he won his Norm Smith and Brownlow. Also shoutout to the Collier brothers for both making the team. Who knows maybe Nick will be in the team with his Dad when they update it someday and do the greatest Collingwood team of all time. No pressure.

Very much so I was privileged to see him play - had it all.

The thing that set John apart was his ability to tear sides apart in a quarter.
I used to see Bob, Kevin and Robert Rose regularly at the Gasometer pub. Bobs son
Robert was in a wheelchair and you'll never guess who was always pushing him around. Graeme Allen.
GA had my full respect.
All of them very approachable and friendly.
Bob also sold me on buying a membership early 🤣 gave him my number and he called.
Pies were struggling financially at the time.

Yes understood at least Bobby saw the '90 flag - even if with tears of joy in his eyes at the end.

Another who had a short career at Collingwood & could have been one of our all time greats was Ron Todd.
He kicked 327 goals in 76 games for the Pies.
By all accounts he was a spectacular player to watch.
If he'd stayed at Collingwood he would probably have had Nuts covered.

I'd drop Tony Shaw for him in a heartbeat if the game was played tomorrow

It’s really crazy how good Nick is. I could legit see him win a Brownlow this year and I’m usually the ultra conservative type in predicting such things from young players.
His running style is so smooth, up right posture yet also has a low centre of gravity. Never really seen anything like it. Super quick, flawless skills by foot and hand, can cover 55+ metres on the run.

That goal would of been close to 60m he was 5m in the center square.

I haven’t seen a Collingwood mid do that since Buckley. He just keeps doing things that make you sit up and say “wow”.

Don‘t be silly.

Tony Shaw was mentally one of the toughest of all time. Captained 1990. Super-smart with his positioning, hard as a ballbearing. Played over 300 games.

DONT BE SILLY!

Being Captain of a Premiership side doesn’t qualify you automatically. Remember Pendles will have to come into that side at some stage along with Swanny.

Who will come out?

He doesn’t have to be the next P.Daicos just the next Pendlebury 😀. No pressure! He actually reminds me more of Pendles at this stage.
Probably the guy Nick reminds me of is Andrew McLeod from Adelaide.
Beautiful smooth mover and great user of the ball.

Macleod was a great player, but I think Nick is faster, and will pass McLeod quite quickly.

Nick barring injury, will be among the best midfield players ever.
