Characteristics taken into account for a great leader:
a) Tough - you walk taller in finals knowing hard bastards have your back and will put their body on the line.
b) On-field performance - leading by example and performing great consistently are a must.
c) Dedication - training hard, endless pursuit of success no matter what, getting 100% out of your potential.
d) Communication - need to be able to inspire teammates with your words in between quarters and at the start of a match, particularly during the regular season. Also helps to bond the team together.
e) Integrity - good values and ethics are necessary to have people follow you on the field. Lack of it means brilliant players like Carey, Cousins slip down the order.
f) Success - bit of a hindsight quality, but having consistent success in a great team requires a good leader
