Maybe they don't think Roland's quite ready yet, Murphy's extremely underwhelming, vanilla and doesn't turn the ball. Won't play unless Lyon was injured I wouldn't think. Last season Roland took 46 wickets from 11 matches, predominantly at the WACA and Harry potter took 13 from 8 for the season. I don't think it's even close TBH.
And yet they both have 14 wickets this season from the same number of innings and Murphy has a better average and strike rate. Murphy has also been successful in Asia before. Easy selection really.

I kind of stopped listening to anything West Australian cricket fans have to say after they consistently claimed the Marsh brothers deserved a spot in the test team.

I would be picking Renshaw ahead of Konstas for SL. Renshaw is a very solid batsman.
I would pick Renshaw ahead of Usman. Usman has had agreat run in the team and performed exceptionally but he has looked done all through this series. He basically has no footwork any more. Renshaw had a pretty decent start to his test career, and was far from the worst on the tour of India before he was dropped. Langer's (who was then WA coach) role in undermining an existing member of the team was a low act and contributed to the selectors ****ing him about.

He started last year similarly and came home with a bang to finish third highest wicket taker in the shield. Ideally your spinner can take wickets. Murphy simply doesn't. Don't really care if they take Murphy, he won't play. When they're looking at a long term replacement I'm sure they're expecting more than 13 wickets from a shield season, at that rate he probably should be playing grade cricket. Averaged 1.5 wickets a game in the shield last year, that's pathetic.

He has 6 more first-class wickets than Murphy from 5 more innings at a slightly higher average. If Murphy doesn't take wickets then Corey doesn't either.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ussie hangs up the boots after the World Test Championship.

They're young spinners, the proof is in their improvement. It's all there to look at last season, Roland took 7 wickets in the shield final, that's more than half the wickets that Murphy took for the season.

Lloyd Pope falling off didn't help us

I watched the famous Lloyd Pope spell against the Poms live and it was a master-class. The Poms couldn't pick his wrongun but I Ä·new watching that I knew would be hard to transition into 4 and 5 day 1st class cricket because he just didn't spin his stock leggie enough, basically was bowling toppies and wronguns.

Anyway, this is a disgrace and pure cash driven arrogance. The big 3 should be promoting the others, not ignoring them.

Yes more series between the same 3 teams will drive up the interest.

Maybe we can contest the Ashes every 4 weeks.

He's got a leggie spinning well now

yeah more ashes cricket is exactly what the cricket world needs......

Its like when they decided that the All Blacks should play the Saffers 3 times every year...result its become mundane, not highly anticipated etc.
The same thing will happen with more regular series between Aussies, Poms and Indians

meanwhile the Kiwi's will play Sri Lanka & Pakistan on high rotation...cant wait

No wonder a number of nations players are playing T-20 instead of having a central contract.. Test cricket is losing its meaning

Yep, meaningless T20s will be the winner here.

With promotion and relegation on the line and assuming this uses the same points format as the world test championship, it is entirely possible that one of the big three could have a couple of bad tours and lose points from slow over rates, then find themselves relegated to the second division. How would that help anyone's cashflow?

That would never happen. If one of the big 3 are in that position they would just change the rules.

same as you with the Kookaburra

NZ has pretty good test pitches now. does a bit first innings and then flattens out.

if you are a cricket fan then you should come watch some cricket here. The test grounds are awesome, really scenic. Basin reserve in Wellington, Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Seddon park in Hamilton.
Its like village cricket but with crowds of 8 to 10 thousand.
They appear to share Similar feels as Adelaide Ovals hill.
