The batsman clearly has problems picking up the slinging bowling action which doesn't surprise me. Reminds me a bit of Tait and a little bit of Shoaib Akhtar where the low arm action makes the ball skid on and not bounce as much from a greater height. Not sure its good for his shoulder long term. The best sling action of all time was Jeff Thomson. I still watch it after all these years and marvel at it. Its a shame his shoulder injury slowed him down a bit in his prime.
Looks a lot like Malinga.

I'm not arguing that he's had a poor start to the year although almost identical to Todd. It's his ability to extract turn and bounce. His last season clearly shows that his best is a lot better than Todd's.

An average of 40 versus 30 is not identical. I suspect Todd's 21 wickets at an average of 25.4 in tests weighed heavily in his favour. All else being equal I think they would have picked Murphy. If Corey had carried on in the same form this year as last he probably would have got the spot.

I do think you underrate Murphy's ability to spin the ball and take wickets. He gets a lot of dip and a little drift when bowling at his best.

His elbow has always been well within tolerance, probably straighter than a lot of more conventional quicks tbh.

The fun fact about calling every bowler with a slinging action a chucker is that they do tend to have a straighter elbow than conventional bowlers as you say. And in the case of Thommo, anyone here remember how he used to throw the ball in from fine leg? He would sling it in because his shoulder injury prevented him from throwing normally.
