Bairstow was still in his crease when Carey threw the ball.

this exactly. Carey effectively did it almost in one motion. its not like he stopped waited for johnny to walk out the crease then threw it. Fact is umpire hadn't called over ball was still in play. **** off see ya later 2-0 bitches

Lol "Poms are playing to entertain." 40 overs of bouncers on day 4 disagrees.

Surely they are the true winners here

Interesting titbit from the article...

It was never a gentleman's game.
Sorry to quote myself but more on this story.

Fred Spofforth was so angry about that dismissal (he was the other batter) that he's run through England in the second innings, bowling them out for 77 when they were only chasing 84.

And that is the result that inspired the alleged burning of the bails.

We play for The Ashes because of a run out like this.

History, folks.

The big question is....

Do England retain Bairstow in the team for the next test or do they employ a decent keeper?

Their reaction almost seals the deal - they have to keep him as to drop him (even though he deserves it) would be to tell the world of cricket that they know he's cooked.

I'm guessing there's a possibility that he's developing a severe calf strain right now and that might limit his selection for the rest of the series. It's just a hunch though.

Yeah, cost the the 1st Test with terrible keeping and missed chances.

Cost them the 2nd Test with his brainfart.

Totally wrong. Batsman these days bat outside the crease to negotiate any swing so keepers are looking for a stumping chance. This is what Bairstow clearly was doing when he was keeping against Labuschagne. That happens alot. The Bairstow incident clearly shows he was about 2 or more metres down the pitch walking to talk to his fellow batsmen at the end of an over. Totally different scenario. Then to make it worse the Aussies had a chance to withdraw the appeal knowing the true situation and never did. There is no sportsmanship in that whatsoever. Instead of winning with admiration the world just shakes its head in disbelieve at a hollow victory instead of a great one. Its a s**t act no one can deny it. The Aussies cricketers will know that. To say its not shows a lack of sportsmanship and this just follows on from Sandpaper gate as its the same players involved.
"The world" is laughing at you, dude. The world outside of the sun that never sets on the British empire thinks this was a valid dismissal and a worthy victory. But back in rapidly shrinking Brexit-land, where the laws of the game were invented, that's the only place where cricket followers are outraged. By the laws of the game that they wrote.

And again the Grandhomme one is nothing like the Bairstow one. They are as different as chalk and cheese. Grandhomme was out of his crease not walking down it to talk to his batting partner. If people like winning that way I am surprised. Deep down you know its not fair sportsmanship. The poms are playing to entertain and bring peope back to test match cricket and I applaud them for that, They could easily be 2-0 up. The Aussies just want to win at all costs even if it means acts like this. They could have withdrawn that and the world would have admired them. Now people just shake their head. I find it embarassing to win that way. Just hollow

“ I never thought it the wrong thing to do, the rules are there, and you can’t reward stupidity.” Brendan McCullum

“Those things aren’t remembered. It’s winning the series that will be remembered. We do have a win-at-all-costs mentality. I think we’re quite an unpleasant team to play against at the moment. Teams won’t play against us and enjoy the experience. That’s what we want.” Stuart Broad

These two quotes are from another time but they could so very easily apply today.
