Yeah I’ve never thought he was much good, certainly not that good anyway.
The issue is that he never changes pace and just has **** all variety.

We’ve been spoilt by watching an era of elite spinners (Warne, muralitharan, kumble, Vettori) who can all change speed, flight, length and have variation that puts pressure on and they know when to actually slow the game down and flight deliveries.

Lyons a boring as shit stock off break bowler

Saw a comment on cricinfo being critical of lyons 4th innings strike rate, then he goes and gets a 6-fa
Further to this about how boring he is.
Today was like his 5th five for in a second innings. Gerard whateley was ejaculating in the box talking about it this morning

Fun fact.

Shane Warne and Nathan Lyon have the same amount of 5 fa's in the 4th innings.

Yeah on a wearing pitch - you’d think bowling a bit outside off stump to get the batsman cutting would create the opportunity to bowl them through the gate.
I know he gets more topspin than side spin but you got to mix it up a bit more
Also it pisses me off when every bowl he raises his arm like that was close

Think you guys are a bit harsh on Lyon
440 wickets is nothing to sneeze at.

He's a bit lucky in that he generally bowls when his batsmen have got large totals which keeps the pressure on. and agree that he could vary is pace a bit more and doesn't really have an arm ball.

But bounce more so than turn gets good players out and he uses that very well

Yeah, he's had a bloody good career. People underestimate how hard it is to be an international spin bowler, especially in Australia conditions.

He has been a big part of this current bowling unit, which could arguably be up there with Australia's best ever. He works in with the quicks well and does a job for the team that allows thre quicks to rotate and attack all the time.

Last session coming up... Pakistan need 86... England need 5 wickets... The new ball is due soon.

With everything that has gone on in this test, IF it comes down to the last handful of overs and all 3 results are still in play, you could mount an argument that this is right up there in the greatest tests of all time!

I think its in the area of most runs ever in a test? Or approaching?

I can see how it might be considered greatest. I like centuries in trying conditions instead, a true battle between bat and ball.

How are there 51 overs remaining?
