A telling quote, however, which might underlay the Collingwood mindset in this game:
For us: the loss of Harvey and McMahon is critical, but we do have Adams, Wells and Grima, none of whom played in round 21 last year, and all of whom are in good form. Our triple towers are back, and we have another pre-season into our younger guys, with perhaps Cunnington ready to take the next step.

Disregarding the comment about their depth, you'd think there might be some "look ahead" on their behalf.I believe the Collingwood depth is good enough to cover the loss of the two most critical outs, Ball and Thomas and come away with a much needed round one victory that will set up a classic round two match up against Carlton, and ex coach Mick Malthouse.
