That sucked-

-I mean; Pardon?

What the Organ Grinder is trying to tell you is:

"You can lead a fool to wisdom, but you can't make him think."

Shees even his monkey understood it.

I would have voted "No"......

What i don't understand is that most of you Hawthorn Supporters may have gone through that tough time, hence you would know how bad it dfeels yet you still love giving it to us. You were in a worse situation then we were.

And you still didn't answer my Question at the end there mate.

How mnay Supporters did you have when you Bottomed out for 5 years?

Even at our worst, we still didn't drop below 28,000 over the last 5 years and we have been above 27,000 members for 12 years and in the last 5 years, we have averaged over 30,000 members (and that doesn't include this season).

If you include 2008 memberships, our average for the last 5 is over 32,000.

While searching for these figues, I also found this (from 2002):

Hawthorn Football Club (HFC) has worked hard at steadily building its membership to the point it currently has a record number of 33,319 supporters paying an annual membership to support their team. With this base providing a strong foundation, the club is in the enviable position of being debt-free, investing in equity for the future with $1 million profits. Not bad considering it was facing a merger and debts of $4 million almost a decade ago.

So as you can see, we have NMFC covered at this stage. If, in 5 years time, you can quote similar numbers, I will applaud your efforts. :thumbsu:

I will wait to see how many members they have next season first, how many of them are paid up and not given away aswell.

with so many people helping them this season that wont renew their memberships we will get a real picture next year. To have only 20 odd thousand to a game at the mcg spells doom to me.

Brayshaw and his bogans have turned their back on the AFL, they wont get any support after 2009 and thats when we might see the Kangaroo cull.

Wasn't this the same argument Hawthorn got when they signed up so many members after the merger with talk about dogs and lightpoles being signed up as members? They seem to have sustained their level of membership so I say we can do the same. What you fail to comprehend is that sometimes club supporters need an awakening and our near relocation has awoken many a complacent Roo supporter.

Pagan? Stranger things have happened. Remember Stan Alves getting the boot after leading the Saints to a Grand Final? Also, that's the way I remember it. You moved him along because you thought he was a spent force (an opinion born out by his subsequent performance at Carlton).
Yes, but that was St Kilda.

Club supporters do but whilst hawthorn had kids, dogs and post offices signed as members they paid their cash and it was paid by passionate hawkers.

I dont know the exact figure but I would think that at least 20% of your members are football supporters of other clubs and did it as a one off to help you get back on your feet, the ones i know aren't renewing next year.

mate you are kidding yourself, I bought a Hawks membership in 1997 as well to help out. These issues are bigger than club level, this is about the AFL and I bought memberships at Bulldogs and Fitzroy for that very reason in their hour of need. I love the fact that most of the original clubs are still with us as its history and tradition.

See I bought a NMFC membership and then I got to know some of the Norf supporters on BF... no way i'm gonna renew it now...

Monkeymonkeymonkey.

Alright, just this once...

See, what HE said was that you ADMIRE what you DON'T UNDERSTAND, right?

So what I did was(heh heh heh), what I did was imply that I didn't admire what he said, and then I checked myself like I didn't even understand it either! Thus disproving his statement and fake insulting myself at the SAME TIME!

Ah, wit.
Monkey's need more schooling than the average primate.

And incidentally, the basic moral of that post was: "Not all wisdom is worth the thought it's imprinted on."

All of this drivel of an explanation took this long to work out?

Clearly, you don't know the exact figure. 20%?? So roughly 7,000?

I know there are bound to be a quite a few, but i really doubt it's 7,000. But even if that were the case, and we were to leave those 7,000 aside, it's still a 5,000 increase on last year. I would be surprised if 2009 sees North retain 34k members, but now that the GC millstone is removed from the club's neck, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see membership around the 30k mark next year.

Don't count your Norf supporters before they've hatched. :D

They are so pathetic it's almost sad watching them hang in there year after year.

Again this year they look like making the top four after other clubs who have been up for most of the year start to run out of legs. How much longer can this go on? Look at their percentage, below 100%, when is it ever above 100%? How can you have a top 4 side with sub 100%? Answer, a club that is getting the last out of their talented veteran players and has no decent young kids coming through the ranks.

Year after year, if they make the finals they get shown up as pretenders. Year after year they receive handouts from the league.
This year has been another shot in the arm for their club which is destined to be culled off once and for all when the new clubs enter the comp and the their last life line being the draft will be comprimised.

It's sad but true.

kolchak has not made any friends yet

This poster can't even spell 'already'. Seriously that's what, a grade two, perhaps grade three word. I'm tipping he is about 12, 13 tops. Why is anyone even bothering to argue with him?
