No, it's not Stigmata, it's just Ben Stratton getting your attention.

Re: Ben Statton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

He's a natural backman with good hands and cool under pressure. Needs to improve his disposal by foot.

Great come back after being mauled in the West Coast game by Kennedy.

Will play 200 games for the Hwaks.

You reckon he's good? You should see Ben Stratton, he's a gun!:D Don't know about Chris Mew, but the kid is genuine quality! Told all the Carlton supporters in aisle 9 just that!

Re: Ben Statton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Thought he was fantastic today.
Its nice to finally have some confidence in someone down back.
He did some really good things, and looks to actually take the grab.
Think having Browny down there eases the pressure a bit too.

My thoughts exactly.

Re: Ben Statton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Is he eligable for a rising star nom?

I'm pretty sure he is. Need to be aged under 21 as of January 1st and he turned 21 in March. Also, you need to have played under 10 games before the season started. Would be good to see him get a nomination, he's been very good for us.

Is in footywire's list of eligible Rising Star nominees, so it would appear that he is.

Re: Ben Statton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Guarantee he won't get nominated as there's an overrated youngster from West Coast or North who probably didn't earn it but will get it.

Really happy we drafted this guy and just as happy about Rhan Hooper. He really seems like he belongs in our forward line and it took some pressure off Rioli and Peterson today.

Kudos Pelchen!

Re: Ben Stratton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Stratts was fantastic today. I really loved how he has the confidence to take a mark.

I'm really excited about this kid, I love the way he goes about it. He is a good spoil, quick of the mark, tight checking backman. Just what we need. Very happy with his progress.

Great game today Ben.

Re: Ben Stratton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

I'm a big fan of this kid. He seems to be a natural back man who can read the ball extremely well. On top of this, his skills aren't half bad either! He's definatly a keeper!

Re: Ben Stratton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Briggsy was great. May be a little short to take on the really big forwards, but does a super job of tight checking his opponents. Should get a nomination, but as a close checking defender, he probably wont get one until he takes a big scalp.

True.

Still its so nice to see some players who are confident in marking the ball in the Brown and gold.

Peterson, burgoyne and especially Stratton are great overhead.

I think Strat is in the Brian Lake mould. Confident enough to take a mark in defence=pure gold.

Re: Ben Stratton. Is he our future Chris Mew?

Like the Brian Lake comparison, has a similar body shape to Lake.

Will be interesting to see how he physically develops over the next few years.

I've always wondered - how tall is he? I recall him being mentioned as 189cm?

Surely not?

Yeah he's 189cm but so is Craig Bolton, Matty Scarlett is no more than 191cm, Croad was 190cm, Gibson is 189cm etc.

2 cm is this long: |------|------|
You honestly reckon it makes THAT much difference out there?

It definitely can, provided you don't have a great leap. Look at Gibson for example, same height as Murphy, but who would you back leaping for the ball?

NOTE - Not bagging Murphy Mods, calm down. Just saying that Gibson's aerial skills are superior, okay?

I'm not fussed, I was just surprised. He looks taller than that, I just thought.
