Just a reminder we picked Jarrad Grant over Tarrant and Harry Taylor. Could've had a multiple premiership back-line with Morris, Lake and the other but our recruiters knew our list needs best.
TBF, we didn't pick him, that muppet Clayton did.

Was Clayton really that bad?

Murphy

Anyone that’s thinks that isn’t at least ok has literally no idea

Haynes went to take the toss, instead of the captain, in our last game against GWS. That was to scare Bont and remind him of how he had nearly killed Haynes and would never be forgiven or forgotten. Kind of lost its impact as Bonti was oblivious of the whole cunning plan and we won anyway 😆

Funny that Haynes was back playing two weeks after being completely mutilated and traumatised by Bont's vicious and brutal attack.

Best recovery I've ever seen from a near death injury 😎

Also played out the game 🙄

Only missed one game, against the Fold Coast last year. Hmmm

That's over 10 drafts though.

His 1999 draft class was basically so good that it formed the core for our decent teams a decade later. After that he slowly became worse. It could be argued that his final 4 drafts produced 8 AFL standard players (not counting Monty who was a free hit).

2005 draft: Higgins, Addison, Baird, Monty, West, Davidson,
2006 draft: Everitt, Hill, Lynch, Stack, O'shea, Hughes, Harbrow, Pask, West
2007 draft: Grant, Ward, Reid, Wood, Boumann, O'Keefe, Welsh, Mulligan, White, Shaw
2008 draft: Cordy, Roughead, Jones, Daniels, Picken, Ogle

Clayton had some good drafts and some mediocre/poor drafts, no different to virtually any other recruiter.

Don’t think he was a genius but he wasn’t a dud either.

Not saying he was the best ever but he wasn’t a spectacular failure

He had a fetish for picking the short people of the draft. Picked maybe one tall AFL standard bloke and the rest 185cm midfielders who are a dime a dozen.

Absolutely true, but he isnt the only recruiter that had problems picking bigs
