that was a dark moment as a Bulldog fan losing to West Coast but I have something darker and more depressing Melbourne fans losing two final games to Collingwood and Carlton within a week

So true.

Imagine also being the MCGs oldest tenant, darling of the MCC members, and winning your only flag in 60 odd years in Perth.

Then all your leaders put it on public record how much of a burning desire it is to win a flag at the G.

Then you finish top 4 the next 2 years, winning the right to play 4 straight finals at the G.

If you bottled all 4 of those finals, that'd truly suck. That'd haunt a club for decades.

You'd hate to wish that on any club. Almost any club

They gave Melbourne supporters a chamois and a red or blue poncho at the game last night.

Couldn't think of anything more Melbourne unless they were given cheese boards

Dees choked big time. Had the run of play for 3 quarters and bottled it.

Jake Lever just about the most overrated player in footy. Hopeless when asked to play as a key defender and defend an actual player.

I can't imagine a time when I won't enjoy Melbourne getting beaten.
It’s like StKilda….two clubs like us that hadn’t won for ages, yet their supporters are some of the most painful of all clubs. I actually like Collingwood over both of them

Just need the cry baby swans to get a touch up and my weekend will be complete.

Bonus points if they give Charlie Curnow 17 free kicks and Longmire has a sook to the umpires again.

Yeah... but then you have Carltank v Melbourne next week 🤢🤮
I gotta admit a Carlton vs Collingwood grandfinal would be prettttty interesting. Honestly don’t mind either club as much as I despise Melbourne, Brissy & Swans. If Carlton making a prelim means they’ve knocked out Swans & Melbourne I’m taking that any day

Just watched the highlights from last night. Actually can't see how Brayshaw managed to get concussed with that and don't think that Maynard has anything to worry about. Van Royan, however, definately raises an elbow to make contact with McStay and has to get some sort of suspension.

Not sure what more Maynard could do ... was spoiling and that's it

Not according to the gambling addict:

"[The Match Review will] be sorted out during the week. We've got a pretty shattered player in there. You can only go by the facts – he jumped off the ground and knocked a guy out. I guess time will tell," Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said.

And JVR no case to answer I guess

They both should get suspended imo.

JVRs was far worse, but Maynard was clumsy and knocked a guy out cold. I can't remember attempted smothers ever ending in a shoulder to the jaw before. Players have a duty of care while trying to smother the ball. The dives across a player's legs when they're trying to kick are just as bad too.

Cox should also go for the slide through petracca's legs.

Seeing as it's Collingwood and the fix is well and truly on, none of this will happen.

Do now we are suspending on the result and not the action.

Therein lies the issue

He’s had severe concussion issues in the past so he’s pretty prone to them, gotta feel for the guy but it just makes a mockery of the ‘punish the result’ game the MRO likes to play.

Last night was a great example, 90% of players would get up from the Brayshaw hit and play out the game and this wouldn’t be spoken about. Whereas if Van Rooyan did his action on Brayshaw & not McStay the result would have been swapped around.

We just can’t punish the result it’s flipping ridiculous

Lynda Carter young fella

Yep, so young that this is my original Superman ;)

Melbourne fans losing it over the Maynard incident.

Clearly went to smother the ball and then protected himself in mid air as contact was coming.

Anyone calling for a ban here clearly hasn’t played much football. Sick of seeing duty of care rubbish.

You can’t avoid contact once you leave the ground. At the point he leaves the ground he has no intention to make contact, his intention is to smother. If he doesn’t attempt to smother he would be crucified by the coaches.

Does he elect to bump? No
Does he make a play on the ball? Yes - to smother.
Does he go past the ball? No - Brayshaw kicks the ball past him.

If he goes for that then you can no longer legitimately go for the ball.

At the end of the day football is a contact sport and unfortunately even fair play results in contact and occasionally unfortunate outcomes
