Haven’t beaten any teams of not so far other than GWS. We shall see but their % says a lot.
Thats true but they’ve only had the 2 losses, Port was a debacle and Sydney in Sydney is another thing.

Did draw with the Pies when they weren’t decimated with injuries.

Koch throwing Jase Burgoyne under the bus.

Like Tredrea last night blame the players, no mention of Ken.

But can blame a 20 year old kid.

Wasn’t that their super recruit BZT’s fault for a scuffed kick? Even if Burgoyne kept his feet, that ball was getting turned over and goaled.

I don't think the media have been anywhere near as savage on the Crows, as they're being on PORT .....both Jason Dunstall and David King lambasting Ports recruits and defensive setup

None of the Port trade-in's were even good players at their previous club .....so much for grabbing whoever's available & cheap

Premiership teams, historically have a strong turnover game ....not Port

However speaking post-match, Hawks champion Jason Dunstall doubled down on his pre-game take that the Power were a “fake top four team,” saying “a few concerns” remain including their “lack of defence”.

“It leaked like a sieve when the ball started to go in there,” Dunstall said of Port’s defence on Fox Footy.

“As I said, the old fake top four team, Port Adelaide, don’t know where they go from here.”

It came after Port Adelaide brought in trade recruits Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher in the off-season to bolster its defence and add support to Aliir Aliir.

But after the Power’s defence appeared improved in the early rounds, it’s since regressed, having dropped to 10th in the AFL in points against and 15th in conceding points from turnovers from Rounds 6-11.
“It’s a problem, I’ve never seen a stoppage quarter like it — 7.1 (to Carlton) in 30 minutes of footy,” dual premiership Kangaroo David King said of the one-sided fourth-quarter blitz.

“They’ve got some gamblers Port Adelaide and some guys who are prepared to roll the dice.

“When you get it wrong and roll snake eyes, you pay a price. You just shouldn’t be able to kick 7.1 in a quarter from stoppage.

“It’s sight unseen for me. It’ll be the highest for 15 or 20 years, that’s the levels we’re talking about. And it’ll be against teams that are also rans or welded to the bottom of the table.

Not sure if I want Port getting all this negative scrutiny now

This is usually the period of the year they're guzzling bathwater by the tub load

Then it's only at crunch time they realise their shortcomings, when it's too late. Then forget everything and rinse and repeat for the following season.

I prefer that way

The commentators last night even made the point that if Burgoyne didn't slip over that kick was most probably going to be intercepted regardless.

BZT literally kicked to a 2 on 1 contest, Burgoyne had no chance even if he kept his feet.

Their defence isn't great. BZT - he is shocking. Ratugalea is ordinary and I don't get the hype around Alir & Burton (Burton is way overrated). Jones panics and his disposal is ordinary.

Dixon is cooked (has been for some time) & with Boak, will probably retire at the end of the season. Wines getting older, Finlayson doesn't look like he gives a shit (probably understandable given his circumstances).

Their SANFL side is horrendous.

Yes, their midfield is 1st class but the rest of the side is ordinary.

They've got some big decisions to make in the next 2 years.

Well they don’t have a first round pick this year.

The one thing that opposition may have worked out is for the three key forwards to separate therefore BZT, Rat and Allir are one on one, which is not what those defenders want.

Interesting times ahead - Boak is done, Dixon is done, Ollie Wines will be 30 come next season. A lot rides on Rozee, JHF and Butters.

Butters comes out of contract at end of 2026. If he can see that this side is going nowhere, perhaps he will want out at the end of 2025 so at least Port get some currency for him.

I actually rate Aliir, but I've liked him going back to when he was playing at Sydney. Honestly I was shocked when Sydney gave him to Port for very little.

Ratugolea is mediocre and lacks footy smarts, BZT has been made to look better than he is as he's playing on easier opponents. I don't really think that trade was much of a win for them.

I suspect that they might be looking to move Wines on at the end of the year in an attempt to free up some cap space. There's already talk that he might be on the trade table at the end of the season, given he still has two years left on his contact the talk must be coming from somewhere.

I still think Butters looms as a massive flight risk, he's a RFA at the end of his next contract and can see him getting some big offers and potentially going home.

Port are 3rd and we are 12th with no hope of finals... Pretty sure most of use would rather be in their position. However i think it's a case of port being port. Playing well in the middle of the year and getting exposed in the business end of the season.

Not giving it up but with no results in 119 years he really should be sacked, but port obviously don’t think Carr is ready just yet or they’d sack Hinkley.
They aren’t going to go with another coach for a year.
If they keep making Finals Ken will ride the gravy train forever.

Then Carr gets on-board for the ride.

True.

As bad as Chapman was, I don't think he ever publicly put the blame for a loss on an individual player.

From memory they turned their 2024 first rounder into Rat, Soldo and Sweet.

By bringing in JHF and those three it now means that they haven't have a first round since 2021 (which was Josh Sinn) and won't have another one until 2025.

You can literally see from their SANFL side that the cupboard is very bare so they've pretty much gambled everything on this list.

Port's greatest trade lately was the pick they gave Melbourne for Watts. Dees grabbed Bailey Fritsch with it, worked out well for them.

Ironically Kane didn't realise at the time that it was Melbourne that did the swindling and not Port 🤣

I could see them moving Wines on at the end of the year to try and get a first round back in for this years draft.

It's pretty funny to compare Melbourne's drafting after pick 20, to Port's since 2017

Melbourne: Sparrow, Jordon, Bedford, Chandler? Rivers, Bowey, McVee? Fritsch, Petty, Spargo, traded picks for Brown and Langdon

Port: Farrell. Traded picks for Ratugolea, Soldo, Watts, Aliir, Fantasia, Finlayson, Rioli sort of

How about us?

How about us?

Murphy, Sholl, Butts, Keays, Schoenberg, Worrell, Murray, Cook, Berry, Soligo, Nankervis, Keane and we effectively traded 2nds for Dawson

I guess if we give us Murphy and Berry I have to give Port McEntee and Mead

It's also pretty funny that while Port were wasting first round picks to get Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher, we were busy snatching Butts, Keane and Murray without using any national draft picks

IMO BZT and Ratugolea are both worse than Butts

In fairness, Ken has been their 10 years. If their list is shit, then that’s on him. Pretty much every player was drafted or traded under his tenure, so he’s built that list.

Re their trading. For every JHF that has landed in their lap, they’ve traded in Watts, Trengrove and the rejects last year just to name a few.

Thank god they choked against Richmond in 2021. They would have beaten Geelong that year who were their bunnies in finals.

Anyone think they’ll dish up anything in finals other than they did against GWS in the semi last year hasn’t been paying attention.

I agree with most of that but JHF is a match winner. Even in the Hawks game he was the one that kept them in it almost single handily. He gives them a chance and creates goals even if it is from ducking.

I also think the competition at the top end is poor this year. There will be opportunities if a team has a bit of luck more so than previous years.
