Feels like after what we saw Richmond's small forwards do to us in the 2017 GF, its like in 2018 we panicked and said "get a really small player that tries hard (but not quick or skilful) as they MUST be good... Right??"
We did the same thing drafting Brett Turner after he tore us apart at SANFL level. Very reactionary drafting

A lot of help from Eddie Betts and his wife Anna who is his legal guardian.

Once Eddie left, that support was gone.

A lot of things to get mad at the club about. This is not one.

This is a story of a grown man who can not operate without direct intervention from his "parents".

With Eddie playing at Carlton, that support went.

Plenty of grown men require support.

Yeah maybe my wording was harsh.

The point is though, not much our club could do. Stengle needs Eddie and Anna.

When Eddie went back to Carlton, Stengle lost that family support, and needs it.

Whilst it does sting seeing him play well for another club, it is a good news story seeing him get back on track.

I do think we could have done a better job at having Eddie stick around.

Nah.

Melbourne is home for him and Anna and he wanted to get back there.

Read his book.

Nothing against our club. Just wanted to live there and Carlton gave him the chance.

He still loves this club, and Carlton.

Fair chance a goalpost won’t be the difference next week.
No, that will be the last game we play them in Sydney. We will get a very dubious free kick in the dying seconds in their forward line to give us the win. We will climb 2 places and lose draft pick orders, Sydney will stay on top of the ladder, the AFL/VFL will say we made up for last year.

Anyone else notice that the VFL have quietly gifted Victorian teams another two ‘traditional’ stand alone blockbuster games that only feature Victorian teams?
ANZAC eve and now Kings Birthday eve.
Must be nice.

It's ok next year the Crows will feature in the Dubbo Challenge, Lismore Cup, Davenport Invitational and the prestigious Port Moresby International next year to balance it out.
