Geelong aren’t that good

I take it the complete opposite way, there is no pressure on them tonight - no one gives them any chance.

No pressure = they play better.
Favourites = weight of expectation and usually freeze up.

There is a distinction here, though. I don't mind if players are dicks. I don't care if they're a nice bloke or whatever. I do mind if players are doing things that are going to require punitive action, like going around bashing up women.

If one of our players is just a crappy partner, I don't really care about that. If he's a domestic abuser, then I do care about that.

Exactly. Putting emphasis on how they’re a good bloke (or “from a good family”) is completely irrelevant. However our club’s recruiting policy doesn’t seem to agree.
