My understanding of these side deals is the afl are okay with it so long as the club hasn’t been involved in arranging the deal

In which case, why are there quotes attributable to the Geelong CEO in this announcement unless the Cats were involved?
The company employing Scott is a club sponsor..... That's suspect

It’s not hard is it

Any deals direct from existing club sponsor to coach/player count towards cap

Where not a club sponsor, club can’t benefit from it

Different rules for Cata.

As soon as we try something similar, they will count it towards the soft cap.

So Bailey Smith will assumably have to surrender his Cotton On ambassadorship (now that they're his club's sponsor)

Cats sponsors keep coming up with ways to avoid exceeding the cap...

Which of our sponsors could take on Nicks... preferably permanently!

Nicks has been working with our sponsor Capilano honey. Both he and Adam Kelly have very important roles in the company according to the bio

Who's to say Cotton On didn't renegotiate to say hey we'll give you 1 million a year as an ambassador if you take a 400k deal at Geelong
Thats probably exactly what happened. Its how they built their 2022 Premiership team.

Who’s to say Toyota dealers didn’t provide dozens of cars to Fog so he could sign for $400k and he can then sell to friends and family?
Hopefully... about time we played with the same rules as the big Victorian clubs.

Seriously, do you look at Geelong's list and genuinely reckon it's that stacked that they can't be paying within the cap? It's not a great list, they've just been a great club that maximise footballing performance. Brisbane, Melbourne and Bulldogs all look to have more expensive lists than Cats.

Not now as they have begun turning over their liat, but previously they have had stacked list.

Why do you think Dangerfield accepted less money to leave the Crows...

Why? As long as the club hasn’t been involved in organising the deal, then it’s perfectly legal.
Its been reported the afl will look very closely into this deal ie if he was getting 150k then all of the sudden its 600k and geelong are paying him 300k they have said geelong will be fined heavily

Because he wanted to be at home with family, while still earning good money, and being part of a better club that knows how to win flags

& his family members got good money from Costa...

Did he though? Did you not ever wonder why they didn't even try the RFA route? If they had, his contract value would have ended up as public knowledge. They had nothing to lose by lodging an RFA contract, except blowing the fabled 'flat structure where the captain earns the most'. It's rubbish, Danger has been on $1m+ from the get go.

Yes, Dangerfield is on record he took less money from the Cats compared to what we offered... & yes, he had family members well looked after by Costa.

As they should, if any component isn't commercial, then they'd not be doing their job. They'd also be needing to make sure that Cotton On's exposure doesn't increase without some increase in the cost of their sponsorship.

What else do you think he's going to say? It might have been less than what we were prepared to pay, but there's no way it was less than $1m plus. I'll ask again, why woukdnt Cats have at least tried the RFA route, absolutely nothing to lose and maybe get him without draft capital.

Well most people believed him as he had no resson to lie... but hey rewrite history if you must.
