Would love a Collingwood Melbourne Grandfinal.

No way the AFL make the same mistake when they had the possibility of a Richmond Collingwood final in 2019 and GWS won that prelim and then turned out one of the worst GF performances ever.
Have to start mentally preparing yourself for Port v Collingwood…best to start now.

I don't think so. The best two teams by far currently but a team like Melbourne has a heap of improvement.

I think Port have Collingwood covered but the Bulldogs and Melbourne will beat Port if either find any kind of decent form.

Port have already beaten the Dogs twice this year. You can forget about them.

Port have Collingwood covered especially at the MCG? Melbourne at the MCG is a different prospect.

I feel they do, I realise that makes no sense but I don't think this Port team mind the big occasions.

Melbourne only just lost to Port and couldn't have played much worse.

Gut feel is Collingwood have started too well.

Still plenty of games for sides to find form
Maybe Brisbane if they can sort their shit out, but they are notorious for falling to pieces in September.

The Dogs have the talent, but will need a massive turn around in form to even be around the mark.

Other than that I can't see anyone else challenging Collingwood, Port and Melbourne.

For those that love stats, Patrick Dangerfield became the first player to record a negative disposal efficiency tonight.

He is cooked. I watched him move and he simply cant. His whole game revolved around a high powered attacking intensity that included bulldozing through the opposition. Its clearly taken a massive toll on his body and his current build has him jogging on the spot. He would be better off ditching the weights, losing some of the upper body muscle mass and move away from the midfield to being an outside player on a wing and he could try his speed. Age gets everyone and the best players adapt. I dont think he has. On the back of a Premiership I guess he cant be blamed. But he is so cooked right now Geelong would be better dropping him.

True but a lot of those sides have been pretty poor in patches this year. I can't see them beating a Collingwood or Melb in a final.

I’ve watched a lot of Melbourne this year and Port can definitely beat them in a final at the MCG, they have been pretty average at stages and struggle to get their game going, especially if you take the intercept marks away from Lever & May. Quite a few of their wins have hardly been convincing, admittedly when they are on Melbourne are very hard to beat. Collingwood on the other hand are really good a majority of the time and if they are fit & firing come September will be very hard to beat.

Were Port missing anyone when we played them? Not sure how we managed that.
Why is that, we've proven our best stands up against the best enough times now to know we have the the ability, bringing it consistently especially away is still a work in progress.

Yeah, there is still a bit of evolution to be done with the team and we have our weaknesses but our strengths are very strong. For me, that game showed just how damaging Thilthorpe will be going forward, when Port were looking like they were going to put a gap on us, he wrestled that game back with 2 and handing off 1 in 6 or 7 mins that turned the game back.

I think Melbourne and the Bulldogs are the two best teams on paper but both are coached poorly and neither are playing anywhere near their best. Brisbane are.good but can't win away from home.

It's a long season so there is still time for those teams to find some consistent form, if not then I think it's Port and Collingwood.

Rubbish, sure he's not playing the best. But how many players are so called cooked on this forum?
Boak was cooked 12 weeks ago, walker was cooked 5 years ago so was Hawkins.

Porkins kicked two goals last night but for the rest of the game he looked like a slow fat plodder, so easy to run off. Last night he was more of a liability even with his two goals. Finally, the end is looming for him and finally, hopefully for Geelong as well. Even when they were 3 goals up they looked slow to the contest but were able to control play when they did have the ball. But they're like the bloody terminator. Just when you think they're dead, they find something.

Yeah there not smoking the good teams at all. In there 10 win streak only Melbourne, St Kilda and Essendon are in the 8. Look if they knock off Geelong they deserve some credit. I still back us in against them in the showdown.

Also have constantly seen players on the phones on the bench and no one speaking to Hinkley, Carr is coaching from the box it's pretty obvious.
There was actually footage of JHF coming to the bench and Ken handing the phone to him. Every other coach who is coaching from the bench has headphones on, are constantly communicating with the box, constantly up and talking to the players. Ken is sitting there spectating the game. Port will want to hope this arrangement wins them the flag this year cause if they dont there will be massive pressure to re-sign Hinckley - especially as it looks like it will be a prelim final at worst. If they do why would Carr stick around doing all the work with no acolades.
