AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
AFL believes Racial slurs not directed at a player, are worse than homophobic slurs directed at a player. But why did Tex get 6?
Both tackles....lol Ginnivens first free was actually high.
Racism is taken more seriously than homophobia. It shouldn't be as discrimination is discrimination, but that's the way it is.But why did Tex get 6?
They boxed themselves in with ClarksonTHIS.
I just dont get it.
How can you argue in 2024 that one is any less discriminatory then the other.
The hypocrisy and double standards on this is amazing.
I know this is stupid and I'm overthinking this but say everyone jumps up to punch the ball, and somehow an attacking team player in front of a pack does a bicycle kick and manages to get foot to ball (I already said this was stupid) and the ball goes through without being touched by anybody else. Goal or point or no score?
Racism is taken more seriously than homophobia. It shouldn't be as discrimination is discrimination, but that's the way it is.
The replies on the thread in the Scandals board tells you all you need to know. If it's a racist slur "CRUCIFY HIM", but when it's homophonic "toughen up, sticks and stones" etc.Yup its unbelievable 'logic'.
Once again, the hypocrisy and double standards on this is astonishing.
'Dont be racist kids but all good to be homophobic'
Gold Coast loss not looking so bad?
Also hearing the Chairman say it should only be a fine..... Like how do you look Erin Phillips in the Eye around the club after that?Yup its unbelievable 'logic'.
Once again, the hypocrisy and double standards on this is astonishing.
'Dont be racist kids but all good to be homophobic'
A slur is a slur, is it not? Why is a racial slur not even directed to an actual player just overheard and reported a 6 week ban but a homophobic slur in an AFL game directed at another player being discussed as a fine??
Both actions are viewed terribly by most of society these days.
Both deserve heavy bans to send a message this isn't acceptable anymore
No wonder not one AFL player has felt comfortable enough to announce they are gay.Racism is taken more seriously than homophobia. It shouldn't be as discrimination is discrimination, but that's the way it is.
Also hearing the Chairman say it should only be a fine..... Like how do you look Erin Phillips in the Eye around the club after that?
The club went straight into defence PR mode of he apologized and acknowledged he made a mistake..... Ok then as a club suspend him then? Why do you need to wait for the AFL integrity unit to investigate it when he admitted it was wrong and he should not have said it?
10000%
This stupid logic 'Racism worse than Homophobia'... Please... Discrimination is discrimination, you cant play moral equivalence on it.
I know there's no current openly Gay AFL mens players, but look at Jesse Baird (Vale) he was an AFL Goal umpire, what if he heard it? Like you said, how does Erin Phillips feel about it?
The indigenous players were quick to criticise and comment on Tex's slur, I'd love to hear from the LGBTIQ+ community on this...
Should they be forced to comment?
Of course not, but the standards you walk by are the standards you accept.
I don’t believe it makes that much difference. So if Mount Barker is legit MCG measurements or very close to it ...... Why don't Adelaide train there in the week leading up to a game at the MCG??
Small issue, but they were saying this is Sidebottom and Pendlebury’s 290th match together.
(They could pass McLeod and Edwards at 307 this year)
But sidebottom was the sub and Pendlebury was subbed, should the game count?
ExactlyImpossible to have played together if one is subbed out and the other subbed on.
I tend t9 think that racism is a level above. Agree both should be treated seriously, but I don't agree that the crimes are the same.
