Luke Beveridge playing blue chip inside mid Jack Macrae out of position at the Dogs on the HFF for the past 2 season, forcing him to move to another club...

Tonight he was 2 marks off the extremely rare AFL quadruple double (10 kicks, 10 handballs, 10 marks, 10 tackles). He had 17 kicks 18 Hbs 8 marks and 11 tackles and he did it at 82% efficiency with 9 clearances.

After last weeks 31 touches and 5 tackles.

Why are coaches s o stubborn/stupid and try to do this with players, play them out of position I mean. He is a clear inside mid and Bont, Libba Macrae would have worked... to me it makes no sense.

I think he just does the same thing as Libba, but worse. Hes a bit slow, and isnt damaging.
Hes good but not amazing at the contested stuff, but will cruise around racking up touches all day without ever breaking a sweat.
Same as Matt Crouch was banished by the Crows to the SANFL for ages, that lack of pace can be a deficiency.

Might be manageable with an outside style gameplan filled with uncontested possessions like the Crows and Saints are doing though, or with the right personnel around him so he doesnt get exposed

Priddis was similar I guess, just slow

Fair call, he isn't blessed with speed, but his handball use is elite.

Watching Macrae fade into obscurity on a HFF was disheartening, knowing he can contest collect and keep pushing your team forward.

Anyway, just wanted to point this out 🍻

Geelong v StKilda was a good match. I enjoyed it.

I was not expecting it to be a good match but it was.

Saints have a great chance to go 2-1 now playing Richmond and Geelong are a chance to go 1-2 as they play Brisbane at the Gabba.

Can you not bring up WCE related posts in this thread? Plenty other threads for you to whinge in.

Cheers

Every single other one they post in.

Anyway felt like both the commentators - was it "Huddo and Howie"? - were really doing their best to cheer Geelong home, calling many free kicks they thought the Cats deserved when the ball was in their forward line. Must've been tough on them to travel all the way to Marvel.

Got the tip wrong but always glad to see Geelong lose.

Usually only room for 1 or 2 of those players in a best 22. Otherwise the midfield becomes too one dimensional and gets outworked by faster midfields. Bulldogs already have Bont and Libba in there and needed a classy outside mid to compliment the ball winners.

Treloar complicates things too, and Richards has clearly come on nicely. That’s the issue with recruiting a million midfielders, which has been a bulldogs problem for like 20 years now

It's been their problem since I started watching footy in the late 80s. Outside of Chris Grant they haven't had a serious key forward. (Brad Johnson obviously a bit different)

I think they have one now in Darcy.

Darcy and Thilthorpe looking like this coming generations top power forwards.

I see Sam Lalor, the cross between Dusty Martin and Harley Reid really struggled yesterday with 7 kicks.

Personally, I think the kid will be very good.
But just goes to show how your performance drops off when you're playing in a winning side compared to one that gets smashed.

Which unfortunately is what HR experiences with us.

They've had an embarrassment of riches of talls recently

Also shows why it’s best to let the kids come along naturally before saddling them with these ridiculous comparisons.

This will always be my favourite, after career game number four.

The Bomber fans in the media are the gift that keeps giving. They always hype early so Bombers over estimate the list, then they stay stuck in mediocrity.

Channel 7 going with "Melbourne Demons AFLW Premiership Captain" above Daisy Pearce's name, no mention of AFLW WCE coach.

Not sure which one would take precedence.
