Turtle necks....N Reiwoldt and herself are the only 2 people in the world that wear them...hmmmm
I thought it was a strange pairing but I can see them bonding over turtle necks and shit footy teams that have had brief success under Ross Lyon

Something like this.

Look at what North did a few years ago. Decided to rebuild totally, so got rid of all the old guys and most of the high salary guys like Ben Brown. Then went to the draft and grabbed something like nearly 20 guys over two years.
With all these guys on AFL enforced draft salaries and rookie salaries they still had to reach 95%. So they had no choice but pad out the mid tier guys they had left. Paying them way overs.
Sure, they can do a bit of front loading of the spuds, but it still means that when all those draftees reach negotiated salary time, the bill for that group will go up dramatically. And 5% ain't enough to cover that.

A few ideas.

1. Keep a salary cap. Otherwise clubs will become debt traps like the VFL in the 80s. It also does help equalization.
2. Go with something like Keys 5 year rolling requirement. But lower the figure to 90% over 5 years.
3. Lower the single year figure to 80%. This allows clean outs like North did.
4. Allow a single year overspend to 105%. Only 1 year in 5, and only from money underspent previously.

In the age of Free Agency the 95% min hinders the bad teams more so. I imagine had a club spent 85% there’d be a few more GodFather offers for superstars

Massive similarities to our last game at Subi. Beat the top team by a certain number of points to qualify for finals at the expense of Melbourne. Look for shuey to hit a buzzer beating 3 for the win

So Scorchers GF is only the 5th biggest moment of BBL 12.

Behind Zampa's failed Mankad, Neser's boundary catch, Smiths 100s and the Thunders failure?

Really Cricket Australia, please do better.

Look if a crowd had turned up for it it would have been higher but Perthlings just don't go to the cricket

Against the Crows in 2017, it was Jetts that kicked the goal to get us over the 6 goal margin but Darling kicked 2 in the last quarter I think including one from an incredibly gutsy mark back with the flight into a pack and a goal post if memory serves.

I love JD. But mentions of marks back with the flight & goal posts trigger me. 2015 GF was hard, Jack having post traumatic stress 2018 GF thankfully ended well....but Tommy Barrass wasn't the only one thinking a heart attack might be close

When it comes to WA sporting icons, especially in the football world, there aren’t much bigger than Barry Cable

This is a civil case, not a criminal one, so the standard of proof isn’t as high. It should be noted he was never charged and I don’t recall it ever coming up that he was ever investigated for sexual assault. The allegations stretch back to the late ‘60s so it’s less likely that it would have been reported on back then

As an aside, I must say I don’t really like that he’s been named. As they stand these are allegations on events from 50 years ago and are unproven. If they aren’t and Cable wins the case, then his name is forever tarnished. By all means if the case is successful he deserves to be named at that point, but not before

Rumours like this have been around Cable for years.

I heard of this in the 80's and then it all went quiet. Wonder why the Judge who is to preside on the civil action lifted the suppression order ?

This series of tweets from a Collingwood supporter is wild

The article that prompted it is one of those expected wins bullshit that pops up each preseason. Essentially looks at clubs that had either a lot of close wins or a lot of close losses, then predicts those sides to rise or fall as they return to a more 50/50 split in close games

It’s a bit erratic but the logic is sort of there, in that a one score result is largely influenced by a bit of luck and it’s not always going to go your way like it did with Collingwood last year until the finals

This all seemed a bit much for Stephanie who wants to claim the bounce of the ball is due to its shape and has nothing to do with luck

It’s quite the work of art
