Fyfe is a very good footballer and for all I know he was a good captain and teammate but he has an unwavering ability to sound straight out of a cult when he speaks

“I had to really go to hell and back..”

He’s not talking about some personal tragedy, or even the struggles of getting over serious injury

Nope, he’s talking about goal kicking.

It might just be me, but I find he’s always trying to sound overly smart or profound when he speaks

Yeah he’s articulate and thoughtful, but it dips into cringe sometimes

Fyfe talking about his favourite subject ..........HIMSELF.

He is on a par with Meghan Markle.

Tell me it’s a Vic-centric competition without telling me it’s a Vic-centric competition

Of the top 40 most influential people in football according to this there are 12 people directly tied to Victorian clubs compared to just 5 from non-Victorian clubs (Nisbett scrapes in at 40)

The remainder of the list is a collection of AFL executives, TV people, player managers, a couple of state premiers, commissioners etc the overwhelming majority of which reside in Victoria

That's hardly surprising given half the team and the league's administration is there

I've noticed a distinct lack of articles wondering why Gil is still around when he said he was leaving after the TV rights were sorted.

Only has a couple of months left in the job but is ranked at No. 4 behind Brendon Gale (Richmond CEO), Richard Goyder (AFL Chairman) and, bizarrely Jeff Browne (Collingwood president) at No. 1

Gillon McLachlan

Outgoing AFL CEO

Bizarre when the sport’s CEO can fall to No.4. Insiders say McLachlan’s imminent departure has created an awkward dynamic at AFL House because executives are out supporting McLachlan’s farewell tour while waiting to find out where they stand – will they win his job or have to work with someone else? McLachlan’s 2022 mic drop moment came selling the TV rights for $4.5 billion – but the men’s and women’s CBA, Hawthorn racism saga and decision whether to grant Tasmania an AFL licence all remain unresolved with eight weeks left on the clock.
