The AFL on Saturday night confirmed that the small forward had been suspended for four matches and had received a $5000 suspended fine for breaching its Illicit Drugs Policy.


And tbh, the AFL article only mentions the opening 2 rounds so maybe the preseason matches have just been picked up as collateral damage

Really mixed feelings about the Ginnivan news.

On the one hand it's quite funny that an obnoxious little s**t goblin like him is going to suffer immense embarrassment as well as costing himself games.

But on the other, shock horror young man with disposable income enjoys a bit of gear. Who'll think of the children! As long as its not rife throughout the club, as we experienced, then get over it.

On the flip side, if you want to avoid these issues become rife throughout clubs, then you have to be harsh on individuals, no?

A large amount of AFL players would be doing party drugs fairly regularly (especially in the offseason).

Only a select few get caught because those select few are dimwitted enough to do them publicly where every campaigner and his dog has a phone ready to record.

I'm annoyed, coz just like the Stephenson case, for some reason a Collingwood player doesn't have to serve his suspension properly. As far back as I can remember preseason games - like this year's glorified scratch matches - have never counted towards suspension.

Is this a Collingwood internal suspension and they get to choose the specifics? What's different?

I'm not sure - they say it's a 4 game suspension but he gets to serve 2 during the pre-season. Is it just 2 and Collingwood have tacked on their own to for the preseason? If that's the case then great, it's just a bit baffling.

I'm pretty sure that you can't play in official pre-season matches if you are still serving a suspension that will impact the upcoming season.

My take is that it is a 2 game ban and that means he can't play the pre-season games.

A bit of a storm in a teacup. I get that the AFL has to do something because it is illegal activity filmed on camera, but alot of players are doing it.

We’re not going to have a local home ground large enough to accommodate even just our full season members while the Gabba is out of action.
