Lol at trying to get 40 odd young blokes wanting to live in Bunno when they could play in Melbourne/Sydney etc.

Makes sense population wise to have a third team in Perth.

Northern Territory has no chance of ever getting a team.
NSW and QLD dont care about AFL.
South Australia is similar to Perth but with a smaller population.
Victoria has too many.

Murray/Riverina with a catchment across three states would be interesting but would put the Squeeze on GWS. The region has interesting allengences. Less than an hour flying from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

I dont think there is enough tallent for the current teams.

Crows a shot to knock off the Pies?

Big Swinging Ruckman and two days extra break might be just the tonic to even up the game

Laird is a big out for them though

I can't fathom why 3 teams in WA would be desirable. The two most populous cities in the US have two NFL teams, the third - one, and together they have a population larger than Australia.

Conversely, the AFL is content with 10 in Melbourne, a city with a fraction of the population of those cities. Happy to prop up small potato clubs in that city and other nothing teams in the Giants, the Suns and - hopefully not, but probably - Tasmania.

Instead of growing the game, these irrelevant teams diminish it.

We don't need three teams, the AFL just needs Freo not to be dogshit at outreach.... or football.

My allegiances would be tested if a Northern Suburbs club came into the comp
Its only chance would be getting the existing members to adopt a second team. I'd probably take an interest in it as long as it was neutral (ie not a promoted WAFL club that I disliked etc), but Eagles would still be my number 1 team.

Every additional team dilutes the talent pool and the overall standard of the league drops

More teams is not better

Victorians will push for a third WA team because they know it will impact West Coast, and to a lesser extent Fremantle, and diminish their financial clout

I’m glad for Tasmanians that they’ll get their own team but the league as a whole will be poorer for it. A 20th team is stupid

I would instantly hate them with the fire of a thousand suns. So only slightly less than cockburn

I'd love it for us, just because it'd be an extra two games a year where our players don't have to travel for 8+ hours.

They'd be treated as kings.
But have worse drug habits than the 06 Eagles ...

That would be interesting - would it mean that two of our 5 double-up games are always against the Perth Teams? That would give us 14 games at Optus and only 8 away. If they put some common sense rules in (like only one trip to QLD a year and Tassie only every second year), it would minimise the travel load substantially.

If we were smart, we could go one better and do double up games when we travelled (eg 2 weekends in Melb, SA/NSW teams back to back etc) and cut our flying down to about 6 trips a year.
