Moore with both arms wrapped around the GWS guy then throws him out of the contest to mark it....used to be called holding....now it's a mark to Moore!

Umpiring has turned to rubbish, year by year it's getting progressively worse. All the pushing in the back gets my hackles up too - they just let it play out now. Not long ago, any hand in the back was a free. Chop and change the rules as frequently as day and night.

At the risk of being seen as an AFL House sycophant, I like the change in the interpretation of hands in the back - you shouldn't be penalised for simply protection your position - and yourself - by putting hands out into a backtracking opponent. The rule should have stayed at only being obvious pushes that stopped an opponent from contesting the ball, not incidental effects from protecting your position to time your leap which every AFL player is taught when they are in school.

So you'll agree that Edwards two absolutely blatant ones for us in a leading marking contest should have resulted in free kicks against us? I just want to check here. My real issue with this is the pushing when someone is on the lead, when sprinting at the ball or after they kick as it causes injuries. As far as im concerned it's always been against the rules and there is a duty of care there as well.

On top of this im ****ing sick of seeing players completely tackled off the ball or on the goal line in the name of it being a 'shepherd'. A sheppard is a body check or bump to allow your player space. Not full tackles off the ball or on the goal line to that the ball can sail through. I'm ****ing sick of these things even more than the ridiculous way holding the ball is adjudicated now.

O’Brien is only 27 I’m pretty sure - still has 5-6 years ahead of him. Problem is he’s just not that good. Makes Goldy look like Nic Nat in terms of athleticism

28 this year but unfortunately has the body and agility of a ruck who is 32-33 and bordering on retirement. He has 2 solid attributes. He is generally good at neutralising the ruck contest and thus bringing the ball to ground and he's quite durable however the Crows absolutely need another ruck on their list unless they plan on someone getting Thilthorpe aggressive and being a full time ruck at which point they need another yet another Key forward.

The Crows are my second team and I don't rate Himmelberg at all however they have been lucking in securing Murray as an SSP as he's at least a serviceable although slightly undersized KPD.

They're mine too and I'm now looking at their rebuild path as a preview to ours. They also had big problems off field and it took several seasons for them to bit the bullet and ditch their CEO. It's good to see them performing better, as it gives me a ray of hope

All we need is to ditch the CEO

Expect a group of late outs with Covid?

Hawthorn senior coach Sam Mitchell has tested positive to Covid-19 and will stay away from the club for a few days.
Mitchell will hand the reins over to his assistants to lead training for a few days while he recovers at home after testing positive on Saturday night.

They really are committed to tanking.

I would be asking for proof of this. Absolutely unbelievable. If he and a 'covid' rested player tested negative I would go straight to stripping draft picks.

add to the list implementation of the 'stand rule' ok as such but if the player with the ball is openly allowed to be up to 10m off their line before playing on. It gives a padock free to run into. It just skews the game far too heavily against the defending team. Unless its waterman or a few others we hide with the ball who sportingly waits for the defence to be set up.

We will take that and give them 3-5 top up or NGA kids.

Lol - if I understand the policies correctly, there is no need to isolate if you have COVID, but you can't play if you're too unwell to perform (the same as any other cold). The timing of this stinks.

I didn't watch the game and for obvious reasons no interest in watching the replay.

It was a more general comment on the interpretation of the hands in the back rule. Simply putting a hand out to prepare to launch for a mark should not be penalised imo. Obviously pushing when someone is leading for it is a clear free kick.

Yeah, the issue is the umps have stopped paying those. Not just for our game but all year. The media are starting to notice now so expect an overreaction one weekend where you can't get away with even a hand on a side.

Of course - reminded me of the round a few years ago where the first game had them being extremely harsh with deliberate out of bounds calls and this flowed on for the rest of the weekend.

I actually don't really care that much about rule changes - just wished they stopped being lenient or harsh on the interpretation depending on the flavour of the month and that we get at least a couple of years of the rule settling down before tinkering further (unless it's for health and safety reasons).

I bumped the Trent Cōckchin to kick 25 goals thread on the MB as a joke when he kicked a couple snags on the weekend and it has since spiralled into multiple pages of genuine arguing. I can't look away

It’s delightful to plant a seed and watch it grow! Need to build a catalogue of items to drop periodically for a laugh.

I think a simple Nick Daicos is better than [Insert Player] comparison would go off.
