Why did Grundy choose Melbourne of all clubs again?

Good question. It's turning out to be a career-limiting move.

Recall seeing on the Stan series Show Me the Money, following player agents in the offseason that the Grundy deal was covered that he appeared very much to take a back seat in proceedings.

Seemed to be no consideration from Grundy that Melbourne already had a superior player in his position.

Impression I got was that Grundy was just moping around that Collingwood didn't love him anymore, and Melbourne and his agent did the deal without him being involved.

If Luke Hodge's son goes to Brisbane rather than Hawthorn you can guarantee there will be a huge push to dismantle or water down the academies.

About time too. This just shows how much academies are abusing the system.

I suspect it ends with a string of premierships from Northern States and the VFL doing another inquiry into how to stack the deck back in their favour. Meanwhile, WA and SA struggle off to the side.

Multiple bottom 4 finishes might be the only way we can build a squad to compete. Some father sons from the 06 premiership generation would also help.

Well if we pick him up and play him in the same role as Brisbane, he is worth a pile of nothing. If we pick him up and play him as a defensive minded midfielder he has a bit of currency for us.

We need tackling in the midfield but with Berry/Dunkley/Ashcroft and more, Brisbane dont need that

Clubs there either already had established rucks or rebuilding without need for a ruck that is 29 in 2023.


Outside of Melbourne, Port and Geelong were both chasing very hard but Grundy wasn't willing to relocate.

Wonder if he regrets that now.

We kicked the first 6 goals within the first 10 mins and were flying then with like 10 mins to go Coll lead by 3 goals + and we're doing it easy then in the last 10 mins we kicked another 6 and won by 3 goals.

Joe Kennedy (son of Max) is starting to bolt in considerations - is currently part of Gold Coast Academy, but can nominate Brisbane under F/S this year.


In 2026 they are looking likely to gain Cooper Hodge (son of Luke) via their Academy also.

Levi Ashcroft & Kennedy are next years draft.

We’re waiting to see if Cooper made the U15 QLD team. Team should be announced soon.
