To be fair if the weekend derby was the only game of AFL you'd ever watched, you'd be completely unable to describe the holding the ball rule to anyone else. Some of the adjudications were hilarious.

I imagine this could be said about a lot of games this year though.

The last 5 years. The HTB rule is a wild card for the umps.

They were complaining about the Pearce one in the first quarter that resulted in Yeos goal, saying that Darling got him high. Ignoring the fact Pearce was spun around 360 degrees and didn’t dispose of the ball before Darling was anywhere near him. Is that not holding the ball?

They constantly got away with HTB, dropping and throwing it and lots of falling into backs in tackles. Hilarious they think they are hard done by.

There are 300 paid free kicks a week. Over 7,000 per year. And we lose our shit over a handful a couple of times per year.

Come on. Some perspective. Of course armchair fans are always best to ask about free kicks. Including those in back row in 5th tier whilst play is on other end of ground. Yeah and we criticise if a free kick played is slightly delayed.

In saying that, crows should have had a free. Learn and move on.

Reminds me of the game I went to at Marvel in 2018 where we beat Hawthorn by like 15 points

Some old geezer was whinging the entire time about every single fair call.
The people around me just started mocking him by saying things like: "Great call, ump!" "Right as always." etc.

He cracked the sads and left before the game ended and had a go at everyone who basically told him to shut up and you've had your time.

Honestly don't miss the nuffies who complain at the game about every single call. Especially ones who have historically gotten the rub of the green and feel like they've been hard done by.

The Freo supporter next to us had some creative interpretation that every time an Eagle was tackled he "tried to fend off and had prior". So, of course, we started sarcastically noted that "he was lucky to get away with that fend off" whenever we were tackled.

Only lasted about 10 minutes though, because the glorious events on the field made it more fun to forget about him and just cheer like maniacs instead. In a sense, Freo were lucky we smashed them or I would have been a real w***er to that bloke all night.

All I can picture is this classic episode. Just gotta work out if Mrs Krabappel is Simmo, Harley, Yeo or Waterman.

NHL playoffs going on atm - check out the winnipeg jets 'white out' - it doesn't come to my mind but has west coast eagles ever tried this? Would look fukn cool. the guys down in 6160 have 'purple haze' night which they pull off once a year, I went a couple of years and it looks pretty spectacular - would be nice to see a sea of blue/gold. Bot sure what they'd call it but would love to see it come back

We could do a yellow out and the team wears the peril.

Be better against any club without yellow in their guernsey also, which is pretty much all of them.
