Some of the posts around here today reminded me to post this. Good timing since it has enough data points to post now and will be out of date in another hour.

Round 5 ladder details on the left, reading down the columns e.g. Geelong beat Collingwood by 7 points, lost to GWS by 4, beat Adelaide by 24, Hawthorn by 23, and Melbourne by 80.

Columns with two squares are teams that will play each other twice. Lots of teams have beaten the team directly above them on the ladder, which makes it look kinda funny. Sydney have only played teams ranked 10th or lower. If the ladder is about right then they've lost in the easier part of their draw. We are the only team that have only beaten those below us and only lost to those above us.

Here's the one from Round 23, 2018 if you want a point of comparison.

I find this sort of thing interesting because you can compare the difficulty of the draw, where teams have lost or gained percentage, and what sort of wins and losses are needed to make the eight. Also interesting is that most of the return fixtures have the same outcome as the earlier game between the same clubs, though there are outliers (Richmond vs Adelaide for example).

Some clubs lost a lot of games to lower seeded clubs and still made the eight. Others won a lot of games against those seeded higher and still missed finals.
