Everyone is in the same boat and were warned it could happen before the season started, that the games would go ahead anyway, and they have supplementary lists to help cover it. It will likely happen to a fair few teams through the year. WC are just the unlucky buggers to go first…
We have byes, surely they could rejig the fixture.

Seems silly to me the first point of call is to play blokes from the WAFL instead of moving the game.

Is everyone ok with what happened to West Coast? If I was an Eagles fan I'd be filthy they were forced to play.

Yeah because it was known prior to the season starting with top up lists put in place.
If it occured midseason and then measure put in then no I wouldnt be.

From a league fairness perspective, some teams will cop it worse than others, I just put it in the same category as an injury crisis at a club at this point.
It's unfortunate but it's the "luck" part of our season, marathon not sprint etc.

Yeah but a Covid outbreak wasn't a direct result of something that was ultimately their own doing.
What is or isn't the "result of something that was ultimately their own doing" isn't known in either case - both of which concern injections. Vaccine hesitancy at WCE is documented. In any case, that's not my point. It's that there's a precedent of unfairness (for want of a better description) in rubbing out players for reasons outside their control. The 34 EFC players, none of whom tested positive for banned substances, were banned for the entire season.

Here's another team that's lost more than the WCE: Canberra Capitals out of WNBL final after recording eight cases of COVID-19

That's fair mate. I guess I just don't know if we ever expected there to be 14 changes week to week. That rankled me as unfair.

Yeah I don't think it was expected to this level or maybe it wasn't expected so soon?
They also got hit hard with injury at the same time too these weren't all covid.

NFL has been like this for a season now already so I have mellowed a bit on it also.
One team was made to play without a QB, had a no name Depth WR throwing a ball. Went about as well as you would expect.

I'm a little uneasy about it but I guess everyone was warned this would be the case.

However if we get to later in the year and games start getting postponed, then I will have a major problem with it.

I picked him up in fantasy at an attempt to be a smart ass and have a QB in a WR slot. I know how well it went. 🤣

Yeah we cant postpone games now. The lines been drawn.

It is tough and 14 is a lot for 1 week but the flip side is it is 1 week and they get them back and most where only close contacts.
Is it any worse than a side getting decimated by a run of long term injuries ? for the week it is but as a whole ?

Also I'll just say they did it really cool way, felt grounded and was a cool side story to watch a group come together, players that didn't know each other's names.
Bit relatable and would have been a pretty cool feeling among the group in the build up etc.

This Warne memorial is like when you have a party and your mates mix with your family and colleagues.

Elton John is doing a tribute, Sam Newman, Aaron Hamill, Tubby and Boonie are in the front rows, but Scomo and Angry Dad are also there.

I’m sad and uncomfortable.

Angry Dad has covid and so does the nameless guy but there’s a few representatives there for the Governor and GG and some others. Sure is weird and uncomfortable.
