They are not massively viable but hey it is another game into the broadcast so just pump them up with that. At some stage they will need team 20 to get that extra game every week so they can ask for more dollars. There will always be teams on the drip feed.

Definitely. Tasmania I can see working as a venture, the only issue being player retention. Have no doubt they’ll be able to find membership base and crowd numbers to actually pump some money into the club, plus it’s only a short flight away from Vic which means plenty of traveling supporters. Darwin I think would be a train wreck, can’t see the afl doing it. More likely to put a 3rd team in Perth or sa tbh.

If Port can buy a home game in china against St Kilda and Gold Coast, surely we can do the same against Gold Coast (who apparently have Darwin as a zone mind you).

The Swans request us at the SCG every year because we (and Collingwood) are their biggest drawing match ups in Sydney. No way they give up a home game against us to go to Darwin.
The Eagles don't need extra revenue.

Gold Coast are low drawing (even against us), AFL funded and have Darwin for an academy for goodness sake. They are the obvious team to play in Darwin and 'buy' a home game against.

The AFL should subsidise the NT, permanently if necessary. That's what money is for. 20 teams is perfect.

Nah. There's guys playing second grade footy that are say 26 that'd whoop the kids that have just made lists. Just that those kids are snapped up on the potential they'll be something much greater at 26 years of age.
