North is still most at fault, absolutely deluded about its position.

Small club, small fan base, small crowds still deep in a rebuild.

A once in a generation South Australian talent comes a long and what is it offering? He's going to be king of the Adelaide oval for a decade.

3 first round picks were on the table.

You can be realistic or you can be incompetent.

It was always a question of when JHF would leave.

North fans should boo the idiots who picked JHF. They'd still have finished low enough to get Sheezel, too.

yeah it's not clear to me what exactly JHF told North, but the Crows didn't make that offer without there being some kind of smoke that JHF had made it known that he wasn't gonna enjoy his indentured servitude. North had a choice and made the wrong one.

And was it Archie Perkins that we got because he made similar things known?

Yeah Victorians are pretty hypocritical. It's like how every time the Suns lose it's talk about folding, ignoring the fact that there have been numerous Victorian clubs who have been similarly shit over the same period of time.

Anybody who just writes the people booing off as 'idiots' aren't really looking at the key issue.

What JHF did went against a key value for many Australians: loyalty.

In saying that, it should stop, he's a kid. But ignoring it definitely the right way to go. Footy supporters (or people in large groups) in general don't like being told to change.
I can cop North supporters. Anyone else has no particular reason. There is loyalty and there is getting out of a bad situation and getting back to family and friends in another state. Not all 19 year old kids have the maturity to work through what was a very tough season / workplace without the family close at hand to support them. Loyalty can only go so far.
These people are idiots. The key issue here is people are not really having an understanding of all the circumstances and like a bunch of dopey sheep the have simply followed in a line.

Yep Archie out it on the table that he would not be able to get the best from himself being away from family.

Imagine if all kids left gold coast after a year, it'd be even worse.
Problem is not all kids are the same and have the same level of maturity. That is what you are missing. Do you have an issue with Archie telling other clubs he will be better if he stays in Melbourne with family ? It is the same situation. A 19 year old kid who relies on his family network and is not really mature enough to handle the shit fight he got drafted into says no. I need to go home. This is not for me. They are not robots. They should not get judged on other peoples standards. WTF would supporters of other clubs even need to give a toss ? They have no vested interest. Your values / opinion have absolutely zero to do with the situation unless you are a North supporter.

As I said earlier, not a fan of the booing, he's a kid. Just understand it, it's nowhere near as simple as you're making out. I have an issue with Archie if another club chooses to draft him and he doesn't stay there for his drafted contract. We're not talking about a huge portion of his life here.

The more they make a big deal out of it the worse it’ll probably get :/ it’ll be like the Goodes thing and follow him through his career at this rate
It used to be the tradition at the HK Rugby 7s to boo the Australian team. Something to do with David Campesi way back when. It really upset my 7 year old nephew when I took him to a game around 2000. Apparently it doesn't happen any more.

The best way to deal with the Francis boos is for the rest of the crowd at the game to cheer every time there's a boo. And for some brave soul with a loud voice to tell the boo-ers to shut up when they're doing it. The crowd needs to address it.

I would add a fair go, which he didn't really give North.

The irony then...

Hinkley coaching his way into a contract extension is something I don’t even thing a fair whack of Port fans are enjoying.

Sometimes, there are just no winners.

There’s a place for booing in football. Good-natured tribalism and an element of pantomime is deeply ingrained in the fabric of the game. I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at North fans boing JHF for a season or two.

Then there’s mob mentality that crosses the line of bullying a 19 year old kid just trying to do what he loves (and is clearly bloody good at). I dare say if you asked a St Kilda fan last night why they were booing they wouldn’t even know. Total sheep.

absolutely absurd amount of cash to splash on tasmania, i can’t remember who said it but there needs to be some established pathways within tasmania to find all the talent otherwise it’ll end up like gold coast (in my opinion)

it's all relative. I'd rather spend that sum on a stadium and AFL expansion on the projected time line than the absurd amount we're spending on new submarines and that projected time line.

As a friend of mine says, "The Oxford Webster’s Dictionaries have declared “aukustrate” the 2023 “Word of the Year”. (AUKUStrate)
Global Public Relations Institute gave its "Marx/Goebbels Award for the Propaganda Campaign of 2023" to the communications strategists behind AUKUS: the astonishingly well “orchestrated/aukustrated” push by northern hemisphere arms makers which commits Australia to spend $12 billion a year for the next 30 years on US/UK submarines."

This is what you missed raskolnikov.

If players like JHF and A. Perkins and lots before them can’t perform without mummy wiping their bums they shouldn’t be entering the draft. They enter it
knowing there is a chance they can be picked by an interstate team and are very well paid to do this. AFL has to make a stand as players need t play out at least their draft contract. Clubs like north and gold coast need to lift their game off field
and make their clubs more attractive to young draftees.
