It seems like a significant majority of this board. I wonder how that would be reflected in wider society.

He seemed to effortlessly assume the mantle of public enemy number 1. Even if you're that guy and you have a defence you're going to struggle in the court of public opinion.

Nothing that happened has any bearing on the premiership of consequence to the AFL. Hawthorn's relationship with Clarkson has been beyond repair for a long time now.

There is no reason to go easy on Clarkson unless he can defend himself because he has no one batting for him. What can he threaten at this point that wouldn't be wild speculation on our part (I.e. he knows whether the skeletons are buried)? He walks away and leaves North high and dry? Im sure the AFL will hate having more leverage over North. He sues the ABC and Hawthorn? What does that have to do with the AFL?

Unless I'm mistaken hasn't this whole thing been run and controlled by Hawthorn? The AFL has clearly started to throw its weight around to bring the farce to an end but it wasn't responsible for any of it.

To address just one of your points… I wanted to believe it about Clarko.

can't say i'm shocked to read this, i feel like hawthorn try their hardest to make sure their absolved of all consequences. the news last night/night before had someone (i think ashley klein?) saying that they felt it'd be bad if they got punished for it happening

Everyone knew they were doing a review. They said they were going to look into all of that stuff after Cyril Rioli made some comments about how Kennett treated his wife a few years back, which was reported in April last year.

Nothing in the report needed to leak for Rusty Jackson to decide to ferret around and see what he could find by asking the same cohort a few questions. It's also quite possible that they were upset enough about Hawthorn's process that they approached him.

I guess someone re-signed or something but I'm more interested in the rare shot of the front cover of the standard player contract, with AFL, AFL Players and club logos on the front. Must be complicated having multiple employers and one pays you for some stuff and the other for other stuff under one contract with one union.

Agree. Not a great fan of how he carries on, but there are much worse as far as flopping goes. Grimes, Weightman, Spargo and Ginnivan come to mind. And two that go under the radar a bit, because they seem to focus on throwing themselves forward in tackles, rather than 'flopping' - Cerra and Callan Ward.

I'm probably getting old, and it probably says something about me as a person, but I have a quiet Friday night tonight and I'm looking forward to the prospect of putting my feet up and watching Carlton hopefully lose and be plunged further into despair.
