I didn't say that we were world beaters mate, just saying we are on different paths, have been for a while, suffered through a saga and had the self-awareness on what to address, with different reasons for sacking a coach. We're not the ones touting ourselves as top 4 every year despite not playing a final in 10 years (and finals experience matters win or loss), their coaches never stand a chance. But Voss should have known that going in.
Not sure who has ever predicted them to finish top 4 in the last ten years before this year. Assume most people know it’s one of the worse clubs to be a coach at as no one wanted the job.

Yeah they looked disconnected and clunky when there was a bit of heat.
Their disposal puts them under pressure which makes them look clunky . Other sides are doing what they can to stop the run of Saad , particularly the one two handball. The rest are average kicks. It is not particularly turnovers as such but more just missing targets or going to guys under pressure. Stuff like we do at times with the handball. There is a lot of comment about not playing fast but to play fast you need a skill level to match it. The Blues do not have it. You can not play fast if you miss targets or handball at your team mates feet . From what I could see on TV last night the Blues did set up pretty well behind the footy and had numbers to run it but they just killed themselves with skill errors again. Another issue they had was by setting up numbers behind the footy they made it easy for Melbourne to do the same thing and take Curnow out of the game.

I love the thread title on their board:

So you want Voss gone. Who will replace him and why would they want to coach Carlton?

Yeah, I have no idea either.
Maybe they need to replace a few of the plonkers that have very average skills.

This is very captain obvious but Melbourne need to find a KPF for next season or they will be a side that wins just one flag . They had total control of the game all night but could not make use of their inside 50 numbers. They have a good one in van Rooyen who is mobile and gets up the ground and makes good decisions but they need a FF. The lack of a decent FF is hurting Fritsch a bit as well. He is getting a lot of two on one coverage.

I was one of those who thought when they brought Cerra in to play alongside Walsh, Saad, Williams, Martin, that they seemed to have classy users all over the place. But that second tier of players and I think eth pointed out lack of quality depth has its impact. Melbourne's ability to flood forward and structure up an aggressive defence last night had its impact as well though. The scoreboard flattered Carlton.

The scoreboard certainly did flatter the Blues. If Melbourne had Curnow forward the would have won by 40 plus.

It’s nice to not be in the media spotlight today.

Give it a day or two, tops?

1. Collingwood - is the hype real?
1. Port - do they take the next step and challenge?
3. Melbourne - do they have the mental strength to get another flag?
2. Brisbane - see Coll/P.A
5. St.Kilda - 60 odd years of mediocrity, will ti continue? has the ross the boss glass worn off?
6. Dogs - underperforming, most had them challenging
5. Adelaide - overpeforming, can they keep it up?
5. Essendon - see Adelaide
6. Fremantle - played deep in finals and now sit outside 8 at halfway point of the year.
8. Geelong/Sydney - grand finalists/premiers sit outside the 8. self explanatory
8. Gold Coast - improving but is this the year they finally play finals?
10. Carlton - self explanatory lol
7. Giants - is this mediocrity about to set in?
9. Richmond - paid a heavy price for two guys to remain competitive and sit bottom 4
7. Hawthorn - indigenous players review, the 'tanking' thing etc.
8. North Melbourne - Clarko, they're shit. no improvement on the horizon
5. WCE - genuinely the worst side we have seen since start up clubs

1 = easy, not a whole lot to see
10 dumpster fire, start again

This is something I didn't realise about the Hawks racism review;

"In a statement, the ABC, which first reported the allegations, said the stories of the families at the centre of the report were not "leaked", as nobody interviewed by Hawthorn for the cultural safety review was bound by confidentiality.

News director Justin Stevens also rejected allegations Hawthorn staff members were not given an opportunity to respond to the initial story alleging mistreatment, calling the reporting by journalist Russell Jackson "thorough and fair.

It was in the public's interest to be informed about these issues and Russell went to great lengths to get the other side of the story so he could report on that as well," Mr Stevens said."

Families at centre of Hawthorn AFL racism probe to make complaint to Human Rights Commission, lawyer says - ABC News https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-05-31/afl-hawthorn-responds-to-panel-findings-human-rights-commission/102414734

There was no leak, just Hawthorn mismanagement of their own review.

Zak Williams out hurts them. Yes he is vastly overpaid but he was recruited to provide run and he is an elite kick.

Jack Martin another missing from that side that provides some class. The issue is they lack depth outside of a couple of positions (small forwards and big inside mids that cant kick).

It's actually not a huge correction to make, but it will take an offseason or two and the balls not to throw the toys out of the cot with Voss.

this is why I hope they stick with voss as much as I like watching their dumpster fire burn

note. Zac Williams was apparently recruited as a midfielder ;):tearsofjoy:
