is this what happens when you force a bot to read 10,000 boomer social media comments and then write one of it's own?

Macrae doing a good job of not over coaching but much like Mitchell, he’s taken over something that works and is just tinkering. He also knows they won’t stop running.

Imagine having the midfield depth to finish bottom 4, draft Daicos and the go ‘you know what, we’ll just use him as a sweeper to ease him into it, and we’re also going to play Pendlebury off half back too because we can’

I would rub Smith out for the rest of the year for one reason: pretending to take responsibility for a month of debauchery while trying to avail himself of the mental health defece.

I'd then add another 10 weeks for being a millennial ***** who cant do anything without a photo record.

Again, why must we always forget everything we know about life every time common sense and/or decency are challenged?

You know what happens during cocaine and mdma fuelled binges? You don't eat. At the end of it there can be a horrible come down.

As much as he is 'struggling' he has been getting 40 possessions a week.

He is liar and I would actually go as far as suggesting this is a Kardashian style leak to build his brand because the 13 year old girls he is used to sell sex to like a sensitive 'bad boy'.

Taking responsibility sounds something like:

'I mad bad decisions. I faced temptation and failed. I will not seek to explain my actions any further because there is no other explanation. I seek the full sanction under the AFL's illicit drugs policy for a first offence."

Everything else is bullshit. These are party drugs.

We have acknowledged a mental health crisis for 20 years. It's been a huge focus for about 12 and there is nothing to show for it.

That the public discourse on this topic is polluted every few months with some politician, celebrity or sports star hiding behind the defence is almost certainly tied in with the reality we're getting no where.

It robs the discussion of standards psychology seems to think can be compartmentalised from mental health.

Smith is far too young to be a millennial....

Its funny to compare side by side the media pile-on of a first year player in JHF this weekend vs their molly-coddling of a guy who regularly courts the spotlight in Smith.

I did note bevo said the illicit drugs policy should be scrapped as anybody with a clinical mental health issue will never be subject to the code anyway...

Its like cody playing for free kicks, theres no incentive for him not to because he gets rewarded for being a squib. Theres no incentive for a player not to call mental health if they get busted on the bags, is there?

It's not really surprising that the two issues have been treated differently at this stage, but I would also say that the JHF stuff is only a pile on in the AFL media, which if that's what you're mostly consuming then it's probably most of what you'll see, whereas the drug-use issue has gotten into all of the major newspapers and tabloids and created an actual scandal, so people who follow AFL less closely are probably more aware of Smith's circumstances than JHF.

Also just the way it has been handled, one acts like an arseh*le on the field, part of a pattern of poor behaviour in a sport that values teamwork, cops a two-week suspension for striking which is again unsportsmanlike behaviour, and has done nothing to earn any sympathy. Most people don't act like that or think it is appropriate.

The other acts like a dickhead off the field, which many people can apparently empathise with, and others will dismiss as boys being boys and the stupidity of youth. It was in the off-season so isn't regarded as performance enhancing, so doesn't impact on who he is as a player and teammate except that by being suspended he's not able to help his team win games. He publicly owns his mistakes, apologises, explains his mental state at the time (which some have criticised) and accepts the sanction, thus sucking the oxygen out of the story.

I should clarify I was referring specifically to the AFL media, and regarding JHF its not just the action with Kelly its been a build up of media attention throughout this season.
I know its more about putting the roos under pressure (much like how the media looks for any opportunity to put us under the spotlight atm), but I find it very hypocritical that they are heaping so much pressure on an 18 year old regarding his commitment to the club, his performance on field etc but at the same time are full of sanctimony regarding how the punters should treat the smith situation.

The Bulldogs PR machine really is something to behold.

Pardon my ignorance but isn’t what Smith is describing what the French refer to as ‘the K hole’?

That’s without my clinical hat on though

He's describing a number of things which are side effects of drug binges.

How good is it? Party and then write the consequences off as a mental health issue to protect your brand.

That's the good thing about call our culture. You get to retain the outs you might need down the track.

the illicit drugs policy should probably be binned because it was basically introduced as a response to signing up to WADA, which at the time had an insane policy of multi-year bans for player who test positive to non-performance enhancing illicit drugs for an in-competition test (and no ban for out of competition positives, ie if Bailey Smith had been tested in November or whenever he was doing coke, WADA doesn't care) so illicit drug policies were introduced by many codes to basically keep an eye on players (of course, there was also boring Moral Police losers pushing for it). WADA has finally changed this policy to closer to 3 month bans, not 2/4 years bans. So the whole dynamic has changed. And if you look at Bailey Smith, he's being punished far and beyond the actual illicit drugs policy and WADA policy anyway (a lot like Alex Hales in English cricket). So if you're a player, why are you still subjecting yourself to a policy that goes thrown to the sidelines if your "strike" makes the papers? (the reason of course is we need to keep the policy to keep said Moral Police losers happy even though the policy is a paper tiger because quite rightly the focus is on players' health, not dumb punishments)

Soft cap will go up but only by half a million, digital tickets going the way of the dinosaur 🦕 apparently it’s the reason for low crowds. Fixture locked in next year at least 2/3 before the end of this year. Support for a Tassie license is split among the clubs

Considering the soft cap got slashed from $9.6m to $6.7m, an increase of $500k is a pretty token gesture by the AFL considering its basically back to business as normal (I.e pre pandemic).

The AFL isn’t paying it anyway, it should just be whatever the clubs can collectively afford. Though I guess one or two are still borrowing money to make ends meet.

Yeah I think only like 6 clubs are self sufficient and don't require AFL assistance.

I imagine that is what the AFL is basing its argument on.
Basically 'OK, so 6 of you can afford it, but the other 12 is going to cost us $36m per year in handouts to return to the previous soft cap cause you already can't afford to run your club'.

My thought is the AFL was willing to pay it previously. So if business is back to normal, is it just the AFL being tight and not wanting to fork put the money? Probably.

When will ch7 or the AFL stipulate that all games must be broadcast with high def cams?

These huge pixel 720p cams make it impossible for a decision to be made via the bunker because they can't see.

No wonder it takes 30-40-50 seconds to make a call if it was touched.
