These are the most compelling arguments for mine. WB to smash Collingwood in the GF? I like it

A Collingwood premiership

Cons:
  • I can't stand Mick Malthouse - it would be enjoyable to watch him dab at his tears again with a hanky if they lose and berate the journos after the match.
  • I can't stand Eddie McGuire - he already thinks he is the King of Melbourne. For as long as Eddie is the Magpie president, I would like to see Collingwood fall agonisingly short.
  • I can't stand Alan Didak - brilliant footballer - but he disrespects his opponents - he is a piece of shyte
  • I don't begrudge their fans success, but they would be insufferable if they were to win the flag. They are already insufferable and it's still only August!

A Western Bulldogs premiership

Pros:
  • See my comments regarding the Saints fans. I'd be happy for all the Bulldog true believers, who've been going to the footy for years, decades even, and have never seen their team even play in a Grand Final, let alone win one. There would be tears of joy, just like when the Swans won in 2005.
  • David Smorgon has been a tremendous president who has given so much of his time and money to ensure the Western Bulldogs have remained viable in the AFL. If the Dogs could win the flag, he'd feel as proud as Hawthorn's Ian Dicker after the 2008 Grand Final
  • Rodney Eade has been a great coach for a long time and probably deserves to win a Jock McHale medal
  • I like all the stalwart Bulldogs players - they seem like a good bunch of blokes
  • They've played some great football for the past 3 or 4 years, very pleasing on the eye - they've come very close in the previous two seasons

Geelong. Always had a soft spot for them, even before their dominant days. Have cheered them like my own team once the Crows have bowed out in recent years.

If the Swans don't make it:
Saints/Dogs/Freo- because I know what breaking a drought feels like and couldn't begrudge them

or

Geelong- because it would be a great piece of history and I think they would be worthy of it

...but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

The Hawks.

If knocked out...

Then the Saints. Since they've only won one flag - and I like Nick Riewoldt.

Then the Dogs. Since they haven't won a flag for about 40 ? years.

Could say the same for Freo, but then again they're Freo... :p

Meh with the rest..............

Not surprised to read this, there have been an alarming number of highly positive Geelong based threads/posts coming from your direction.

If the Cats can't win it, Freo all the way and if not them Sydney.

Can't be Hawthorn as the brainwashing of my godson will take a serious hit.
Can't stand St Kilda. Probably stems from having 2 teachers in primary school who were incredibly obnoxious Saints supporters
Sister's boyfriend and his family are Carlton supporters, so no thanks
Would have been behind the Dogs but I am one of the people who have been put off by the Aker affair
That leaves Collingwood. I don't barrack for them, enough said

GO THE PIES.

Laugh at the Hawks how are they going to beat Freo It is played at 1.20pm local and it could be 25 degrees good luck .

Not Geelong just over it

Sainters hope they get another shot

Fremantle exciting but not this year

The rest are making up numbers Carlton have a very poor backline the best one should be Midfield.

I reckon Collingwood will win the premiership, they have been a good team for a while and they have depth in their list, so any injury or suspension wont stop them.

The Cats have spent too much time on the top of the ladder, they need to fall like any good team; Lions, Essendon, Port Adelaide and West Coast Eagles.

Go the Pies!!!

Benny

Probably Collingwood.
I prefer Geelong but they've had their time in the sun.

Hopefuly there's some upsets to make for an exciting finals. Nice for Freo, Hawks and Swans to do well.

I hate the Saints, Dogs and Blues

ABC: Anyone But Collingwood :D

Seriously though I want to see Sydney go deep for Kirky and Freo go deep because they never win anything. But I still want Geelong to win it just because I have a huge amount of respect for their playing group & culture.

toss up between hawthorn, collingwood and freo (yes i said it)

hawthorn: buddy franklin, luke hodge, campbell brown, cyril rioli. plus considering they were on the brink of season failure only around May theyve impressed me a lot. and I love how they took out geelong in 08. shut those yipping cats at the cattery (and on this board) very well. quickly becoming my 2nd favourite team on par with melbourne

collingwood: what can i say so many ex-pat sandgropers, plus mick malthouse and them losing their opportunity in 2002-2003 against the formidable lions makes me feel slightly sentimental. though this place would go into absolute meltdown.

fremantle: think its time for little brother to becoming a force, if they win the flag hopefully they (the supporters) get rid of that chip off their shoulders (tongue in cheek ladies and gents) anyways would be good considering theyre the last team to not have won it. and harveys done a remarkable job with the side in 3 years. would be great to see them win some silverware. (yes im about to vomit but theyve played better than my pathetic lot this year not to mention the imbecile worsfold screwing up teams with overlooking youth to put in hacks lynch, nicoski, etc)

geelong: no chance in hell, sick of some of them on this board plus of their dominance
carlton: judd enough said

the rest im neutral.
