I mean.

It's a free kick if there's a block more than 5 metres from the ball according to the rule book - unless I'm recalling incorrectly.

It's just never paid a free kick.

Nevermind can't find that in a rulebook but failing to follow an umpires instruction is a free kick so it's technically there.

Maybe blocking a player trying to get off the ground is a free kick. Who knows? The AFL appear to tell the umpires what to look out for on a regular basis. Just let them umpire the game.

You could get rid of sling tackles just by paying holding the ball when a player is grabbed and doesn't get rid of it immediately.
